MIT Institute of Design Selection Process

MIT Institute of Design Final Seat Allotment
Candidates who qualify for both rounds will be required to report to the admission cell at MIT Institute of Design (MITID) will have to report to the admission cell at MITID for document verification and tuition fee payment leading to final seat allotment.
For admission, candidates first have to fill an application form. Portfolio and SOP submission is compulsory for admission. Based on these two, the university releases list of selected students for next phase. In phase II, there are two tests. A Studio Test followed by Interview. No, in my knowledge there is no other way of entering the institute without giving the MIT DAT exams.
DAT includes questions which are objective, subjective and a drawing test. The objective and subjective selections will be conducted on computer for drawing the question will be on the screen but the canditate must draw on a A4 sheet . In the second round, a personal interview and portfolio review will be done and the results will be declared on the MITID websites.
The marks are as followed for Design Aptitude Test it is 25 for Portfolio review 25 marks and Personal Interview 50 marks.

MIT Institute of Design offers three years MDes programme under fourteen specialisation. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in the specific specialisation which is required to apply for the MDes specialisation they want to pursue. For example: candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Fine/ Applied Arts, Visual Comunnication, Media etc. in order to apply in MDes in Graphic and Animation Design. BDes is the Undergrauate level flagship programme offered by the MIT Institute of Design. BDes is offered in various specialisation. BDes admission process includes university level entrance exam i.e. MIT DAT (Design Aptitute test). First step is to complete the eligble criteria (Class 12 passed), next filling the application form of MIT DAT and scoring a minimum required score in the test. And finally apperaing for the Studio test and the personal interview, which finalises the selection pocess of the course.

The selection process includes three stages. First stage is Design Aptitude Test. The applications start from October. Last date to apply is generally February last week. Application fee for same is INR 3,000. After exam is concluded, candidates are called for next stage. All selected applicants have to report to MIT Institute of Design campus in Pune. Next stage includes a Studio Test and Personal Interview. After conducting all stages, university releases final merit list of selected students. Final selection is based on total score in all three stages.
Application fee for DAT is INR 3,000. The applications start in October on official website. Last date for form filling is last week of February. The exam is conducted on first Sunday of April. Number of students selected in exam are four times the number of total seat intake. After that stage II & III are conducted on campus. Applicants are filtered in each stage. Final selection is based on combined score in all stages.
