B.Sc. in Animation and Film Making - Batch of 2026
4.4

Great learning experience with supportive faculty.
Placements: B.Sc. Animation offers strong placements with 70-90% of students placed. Top recruiters include Disney Hotstar, Red Chillies, Netflix India, Amazon Prime Video, Technicolor, and Ubisoft. Common roles are 3D animator, game animator/designer, storyboard artist, and character designer.
Infrastructure: The department offers good infrastructure with smart classrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, modern labs, and a well-stocked library. Hostel facilities are comfortable and safe, the mess food is hygienic though sometimes repetitive. The canteen provides extra choices.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, approachable, and highly qualified, making the teaching quality excellent and easy to understand. The course curriculum is updated, practical, and industry-oriented, which helps students become job-ready. Semester exams are of moderate difficulty but fair, and with proper preparation, most students pass comfortably, resulting in a consistently high pass percentage across the department.
Other: I chose this course for my passion and career in animation. The best parts are practical learning, supportive teachers, and an updated curriculum. More internships could improve it. Campus life is lively with fests, good crowd, scholarships, and extracurricular.

B.Sc. in VFX and Film Making - Batch of 2025
3.2

I am dissatisfied with the infrastructure.
Placements: There are a minimum of 40 students per batch. The highest package offered is 4 LPA. Roles offered in our course are roto artists, comp artists, paint artists, etc. The recruiting companies are from outside Kolkata. Companies like MPC, Feather VFX India, etc., visit the college for placements.
Infrastructure: There are facilities like each student got a separate computer for their work in the college in the lab. There is no hostel facility in our college. We have to find a hostel on our own or rent a room. The college has a canteen but it is not owned by the college.
Faculty: Teachers are very cooperative and help us solve our problems. Students will not be ready for the industry level, but they will know how the work is done at the industry level. They will get a basic knowledge of the software. Semester exams are not so much easy nor so much hard.
Other: I chose this course to learn about VFX and CG effects. I love Marvel and their visual aesthetic effects. Nowadays, VFX is a very demanding job for the youth.

Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) - Batch of 2024

Helpful teachers, good sports, but weak placements, limited facilities, and scope for improvement.
Placements: I completed my BCA in 2024. From my batch of 25 students, only one got placed with a package of around 15,000 per month, so placements were quite limited. About 6 students secured internships at Webel, mostly in roles related to web development and trainee software development. While opportunities from top recruiters were lacking, many of us focused on improving our skills outside college through projects, freelancing, and self learning to prepare for better roles ahead.
Infrastructure: Our department had basic facilities like classrooms, computer labs, and a library. The labs and classrooms were a bit small, and Wi-Fi was not available for students, which was a drawback. On the hostel side, the facilities were okay, with the quality of food in the mess being fairly good compared to expectations. The canteen served decent options too. Sports and games had a good presence, especially with the annual sports fest that gave students a chance to participate and enjoy. Medical facilities were limited but manageable.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful, polite, and knowledgeable, but the overall teaching quality felt average. The course curriculum was more focused on providing a degree rather than making students fully industry ready. One good part was the flexible attendance system, which gave students freedom to manage their time. Semester exams were of medium difficulty. If you are a quick learner and consistent with preparation, scoring a good CGPA was not too difficult. The pass percentage in most semesters was generally high, so exams were a major hurdle.
Other: I completed my BCA in 2024 with a batch of 25 students. I chose this course because of my interest in computers and programming. The best part was learning the basics of coding and software development, but placements and industry exposure definitely need improvement. The campus had annual sports fests and some extracurricular activities, with a friendly crowd and safe surroundings. Hostels and classrooms were average, but overall, the degree gave me flexibility, especially with no strict attendance rules, which helped manage time for self learning.

Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) - Batch of 2024

My personal 3 years experience about IMS I have shared. Check my review before admission.
Placements: The placement experience was very bad. Some companies came, but the package was too low. The average salary per month starts from 8000 rupees. Companies like HDFC and some software companies came, but we never got any internships. The top role offered was sales manager, and zero students got placed.
Infrastructure: There is no hostel available, and no mess either. The canteen is available, but the prices are too expensive. Medical facilities are available, but there is no playing ground and no outdoor or indoor games. Wi-Fi is available, but no one gives the Wi-Fi password. I got a password from a teacher, but the Wi-Fi speed is very slow.
Faculty: The teachers are not good. I have experienced this for the last three years. Every year, new teachers come with zero knowledge, and they also have zero knowledge about teaching. It's a waste of money. The semester exams are good if you study from other sites like Google and YouTube. I got an 8.9 CGPA. Students are not ready for industry-level work.
Other: I chose this course because I'm interested in coding, but I had zero knowledge in coding. However, I had fun with this course. I think if the teachers were good, then there would be no problem for students. Very few rooms are available for conducting classes. If everyone comes to the college, then there are not enough seats for the students.

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) - Batch of 2026

A quick review of IMS Kolkata.
Placements: The placement of this college is better than that of the other colleges. They provide us with a good range of placements. Approximately 60–70% of students were placed on campus. Packages are around 2–3 LPA. Some of the of the top recruiters are Wipro, Tech Mahindra, and Quick.com. Also, they provide some internship facilities.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this college is average because of this environment. The college is near the road so many noises are created so the students may not be comfortable with this and cannot be properly focused on studying. Wi-fi and air conditioning facilities are available. The library is good, with more than 5000 books. Sports facilities are available.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and they are really helpful to us. They are also friendly. Their guidance makes the students motivated. They helped us a lot so that we could achieve our future goals. They give us extra classes. And the course curriculum is good. Semester exams are medium-level tough.

Satisfied with faculty but not with placement.
Placements: As per I know, almost 85% of students were placed in our course every year with no issue, but the others were not satisfied with their placement package, so they don't want to continue with the provided placement. In our course, the highest starting package was 10.2 Lacs per annum offered by Amazon. A minimum I have heard about was 2.3 Lacs per annum, which is very low. But the average salary of our course could be around 4.2 Lacs per annum.
Infrastructure: If I want to tell about the infrastructure of my college, then I should say it is really good. Being a student of a digital media course, we always need good computer machinery and strong Wi-Fi connectivity, which I must say our college didn’t fail to provide. The classrooms and labs are well-suited for use. Yes, there were some technical issues that occurred regarding classroom projectors and computers, but it was always fixed in no time. Being a student of an Animation and Filmmaking course, we really don’t need a library, so I can’t tell anything about this. I really don’t feel the need for a hostel, so I can’t tell anything about it. And I don’t think our college really has any hostel facilities.
Faculty: To be honest, I am really grateful to have such faculty in our college. They were really very helpful, highly qualified, and knowledgeable people. Sometimes, they push their boundaries and treat us like their brothers and sisters. Being an Animation student, we really don’t need any typical bookish knowledge, so our course structure always focuses on practical curriculum to make us industry-ready. Our college is under MAKAUT University, so the exam schedule and process are similar to other colleges under MAKAUT University.
Other: I chose this course because I want to follow my passion, being interested in digital Animation and Filmmaking.
