at IMS BHU, Varanasi

The Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi, offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in various specializations. IMS BHU is a very cost-effective college as it is a government college. This college is ranked 5th best college in terms of medical and 18th best in dental. For the course of Doctorate of Medicine [MD] INR 22,860 1st Year fees with eligibility - post graduation with a duration of 3 years so approximately would be near to 60 to 70 thousand. 

The Institute of Medical Sciences is one of the six institutes of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India. There are a very limited number of seats available for MD at IMS BHU. Only a total of 168 seats are available for MD and MS programs, and in which 5 seats are reserved, for international students. It comprises three faculties: the Faculty of Medicine, Dental Sciences, and Ayurveda. 

IMS-BHU is definetly better as compared to Heritage Institue of Medical Science in MD course as well as in all other coursesbecause :-

• The institute is recognised and approved by the Medical Council of India.
• IMS-BHU is a government college and HIM is a private college.
• Heritage Institue of Medical Science is a very much expensive college.

 Institute of Medical Sciences BHU accepts admission based on national entrance exams. The institute accepts national entrance exams such as NEET, CUET, and others. IMS BHU admission requires a minimum aggregate of 50% in Class 12  (PCB). Furthermore, they must qualify NEET UG for their category that is, OBC/ General/ EWS. 

In NEET, there is a higher competition and you require a higher rank  for admission in IMS-BHU

The NEET 2025 result is expected to be released in the first week of June 2025, within a month of conducting the exam. NTA does not announce the NEET result date in advance. Although last year the result date was stated to be declared on June 14, NTA released it 10 days in advance. Hence, there is no fixed date or schedule for NTA to declare the NEET result. Prior to the declaration of the result, NTA releases the final NEET answer key. Last year, NEET was conducted on May 5 and the result was declared June 4.

Institute of Medical Sciences is the medical school of Banaras Hindu University which is residential and co-educational just like the other institutions of the university. The cutoff for the college was INR 32000.The fee for first year student is INR 13410 and from second onward it is INR 11610. The total fee for the course is INR 164000.

Institute of Medical Sciences BHU does not offer direct admission. IMS BHU primarily relies on national-level entrance exams like NEET-UG for undergraduate programs (like MBBS and BSc Nursing) and NEET-PG, NEET-SS, and NEET-MDS for postgraduate and super-specialty courses. After qualifying the relevant entrance exam, candidates must participate in the counseling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee.
