A summary of my college journey.
Placements: Almost 90% of students get placed in our course with a salary of Rs. 35,000–Rs. 50,000 per month. Companies hire students mostly as lecturers in top colleges. Many get a chance to work as translators abroad.
Infrastructure: Our college has a well-maintained library with AC and non-AC compartments. Classes and the library have Wi-Fi. We have a well-maintained canteen with lots of delicious snacks at an affordable price. There is an indoor stadium where co-curricular activities are often held. The whole college campus is clean and has calm vibes.
Faculty: Every professor is highly educated. They complete the whole syllabus within the time limit with proper notes so that students do not face any problems in their studies. They are helpful, friendly, and really kind towards students. They have a great way of teaching that helps students understand easily. The semester exams, which occur every six months, have questions only from the syllabus. The passing percentage is 40.
Other: I am passionate about the English language and its history, which is the reason behind choosing the B.A. English Honors course. This course mainly includes the background and eras of English literature. This course definitely increases knowledge as well as fluency in writing and speaking English. This college is a perfect place for students to shine.

It is an excellent college.
Placements: In our college, almost 80-90% of students are placed. The highest salary package offered is 14 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 8 LPA. The average salary package offered is 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies like TCS, etc., visit our campus.
Infrastructure: Our college provides excellent facilities and infrastructure. Wi-Fi is available. Libraries and classrooms are good. All books are available in the library.
Faculty: Our teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are not difficult.

I am satisfied with the college.
Placements: The college provides placements to meritorious students and also provides consultation to those who require it. The top courses are BBA, B.Ed, and M.A. The students also get chances to show their talents at various companies. There are not many placement facilities, but the meritorious and deserving students get them.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is basic and has no modern facilities at present, but it is looking forward to developing its infrastructure. Some labs are in quite a good condition, and they can also be developed. The college also has a well-maintained library.
Faculty: Teachers are of a helping nature and friendly. They consult the students about what's best for them. The difficulty level of the semester exams is average. One can easily pass through them by paying a little attention to the lectures and making proper notes.

I am not satisfied with the college.
Placements: In my course, placements are not as good as other courses. Concentric is one company, which came for campus selection and selected only one girl that to with a salary package of 1.5 LPA. Other streams also did not got any good placements and for our course, it is the worst.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure was not good at all. Benches were all broken and in the rainy season, there is water all around. If we sit on the last bench, we cannot hear anything, and we can't even afford to have one mic to take classes. If we escape after one class no one is there to ask.
Faculty: Teachers were very good and helpful. They also had good teaching skills but staff members at the office were quite responsible. They never do anything on time. The principal of that time was also not good at all. They can fix our issues only with extra money.

Good at low, affordable rates.
Placements: There are very less placement opportunities, as the college is not well recognized still so it lacks approachments from companies. Only two or three companies reach for placements, and only about 20-30% of students get placed per year. The rest search for employment outside or off-campus. As I am from the B.A. department, we didn't get the offer of placement anyhow irrespective of our academic performance.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is quite disappointing, as the branches are crooked and fans also do not work properly. The maintenance of the college is somewhat neglected, and not much effort is being made for proper management of the infrastructure. I have not opted for the hostel facility, so I cannot describe its merits and demerits. There is a canteen inside the college campus which tries to offer good food but always fails to give good flavour to the food. So many of students prefer to eat outside.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-educated, as this can be easily determined by their way of teaching and how they respond to the queries being asked by students. The course is relevant, as it is a multidisciplinary course that helps provide a rough knowledge about other subjects also. The difficulty level of exams increases with each semester, so we have to give more effort during our exams, and it cannot be taken lightly.
Other: The main reason behind choosing this course is that my major interest lies behind literature. It was my own decision to choose B.A. in English Hons. This course provides me with immense information about different authors, their narrative styles, themes, and ideas behind their writings, which pushed me toward taking this course. There are no events or fests are being held only Annual Sports Day is being conducted other than that inter-college competition takes place.

Q:   Is it good to pursue BA in English literature?
    A:
Hi Balaji, Once graduated in B. A. (Hons.) English literature, you could do your M.A. or an MBA. There are several higher study options for meritorious graduates in English language and literature, such as journalism and mass communication; management; tourism administration; law; international relations; linguistics; communication management; film editing and direction; visual communication; and library and information science and forms of creative arts like drama and cinema. You can explore the option of doing some specialised post graduate courses for which graduation is needed in the field of media, multimedia, public relations, foreign languages, teaching, social work, finance, retail, design, hospitality, stocks, aviation etc. based on your interests and strengths. If you have a flair for writing, have good communication skills and a reading habit, journalism or mass communication is a good choice. You could also opt for academic careers like teaching and research and particularly training. English language training is a big and growing sector in India with jobs freelance and full-time options as an English language trainer or a voice and accent trainer. English can also help in being a part of call centres, TV, Radio, reporting and also in the advertising industry. You can also work in an embassy. I hope it helps. Please feel free to revert. Wish you luck.
