CUET UG Top 10 Subjects: Candidates preparing for the Common University Entrance Test for admission to undergraduate courses for the academic session 2026-2027 have to opt for CUET UG subjects in the application form. Applicants can select up to five CUET subjects from 13 languages, 23 domain subjects, and a general aptitude test to complete the registration process. Only candidates who submitted online form by last date will be able to appear for CUET 2026.

As colleges accepting CUET scores will offer admission based on their CUET eligibility criteria and CUET subject combination, candidates need to make the decision carefully. Q:   How many subjects can I choose for the CUET exam?
A: 

From CUET UG 2026 onwards, candidates can now choose for five CUET subjects. Earlier, the subject choices were six. With the rediuction in number of CUET subjects, the choices have been reduced. Candidates can opt for five subjects from 23 domain subjects of any stream irrespective of subjects studied in class 12th. 

Q:   How do I select the domain subjects for CUET UG?
A: 

Go on the official website of university/organaisation. Check the courses offered and eligibility test that they should appear in for admission to desired course. The choice of language/domain subject and General test will depend upon the course and university. Candidates will be able to opt for one or more tests as per the requirement of the course and university from the following sections:

  • Section I - 13 Languages
  • Section II - 23 Domain Specific Subjects
  • Section III - General Test
Q:   Does CUET require OBC certificate?
A: 

Yes, OBC candidates applying for CUET must upload the OBC-NCL certificate in online CUET application form. The OBC-NCL certificate must be issued in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India. If candidate fail to upload the OBC-NCL certificate (issued on or after 01 April, 2024) at the time of CUET registration, then in such case they will have to upload a declaration in lieu of OBC-NCl certificate to that effect. 

Candidates belonging to reserved categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules prescribed by Government of India. However, in the case of central universities admission, the reservation criteria of the respective university shall be applicable.

Q:   How do I apply for a college which requires CUET percentage even though am yet to give CUET?
A: 

Candidates can apply for CUET score accepting colleges through CUET UG 2026 application form. While filling the application form, candidates will be required to enter the name of the preffered universities and courses in order of preference. On declaration of the CUET results, the scores will be shared with the universities for which candidate has applied. Basis on the score obtained candidate will be shortlisted for the applied course.

CUET subjects like English, General Aptitude Test, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Biology, have been in the top six CUET UG subjects from the past three years. However, since CUET 2024 and 2025, Economics has ranked seventh in the top 10 subjects in CUET. Hindi, on the other hand, which used to be under the top 10 subjects until 2024, is not on the list, moving Business Studies and Accountancy to rank 8 and 9, respectively. Additionally, for the first time in the past three years, Political Science has made it to the top 10 subjects. 

Candidates must also note that due to low student registrations in some subjects, the UGC Chairman, Jagadesh Kumar, removed six CUET domain subjects in the last academic session (2025-2026). The removed CUET subjects include Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, and Engineering Graphics. However, CUET colleges offer admission for these subjects based on CUET General Test scores.

Q:   What is the criteria for admission via CUET exam?
A: 

For admission in Universities through CUET UG 2026, the policies regarding quota, category, relaxation, reservations, qualification, subject combinations, preferences etc of the respective University / Institution shall be applicable. For appearing in CUET exam there is no age limit, however, candidates must check the age criteria (if any) prescribed the university in which candidate is desirous of taking admission.

As the CUET eligibility criteria for admission may be unique for every University, the candidates are advised to visit the University website to which they are applying for their respective course and check the subject mapping criteria and age criteria.

Q:   When can I apply for the CUET exam 2026?
A: 

National Testing Agency (NTA) released the CUET UG 2026 application form at cuet.nta.nic.in. The registration window has been closed. CUET UG application process comprises registration, form filling, uploading documents, and payment of fees. Before applying, check the eligibility criteria for CUET UG exam.

Q:   What if I get compartment, then will I be able to appear for the CUET and get admission in college?
A: 

Yes, it is possible to appear for CUET UG and get admission in college even if candidate gets a compartment in class 12th. However, such candidates will be given provisional admission in colleges. Students must make sure to appear for the compartment exam at given schedule and clear the examination and submit the required documents for verification at college on or before the last date. 

Candidate must amke sure to enquire about the details before the final admission. Student must meet the college/university requirement. 

Q:   What type of questions are asked in the CUET exam?
A: 

The CUET questions are objective in nature and carries four options also known as MCQs. Candidates will have to choose the correct answer option and click on it with the help of mouse. Since CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted in a CBT mode, test-takers will be able to mark only one answer option. In case it is the correct option, students will get +5 marks and in case of wrong answer, negative marking scheme will be applied. Hence, candidates must ensure the accuracy of the answer before selecting the answer.

Q:   What is the CUET marking scheme?
A: 

NTA prescribes the CUET UG marking scheme. Check below to know the CUET UG marking scheme 2026:

  • Correct answer or the most appropriate answer: Five marks (+5)
  • Any incorrect option marked will be given minus one mark (-1).
  • Unanswered/Marked for Review will be given no mark (0).
  • If more than one option is found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to only those who have marked any of the correct options.
  • If all options are found to be correct then Five marks (+5) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question.
  • If none of the options is found correct or a question is found to be wrong or a question is dropped, then all candidates who have attempted the dropped question will be given five marks (+5) marks.

CUET UG question paper for each subject will consist of 50 questions. Candidates will be required to attempt all questions and no optional questions will be provided. In CUET UG 2026 there are 37 subjects- 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and general tests. While filling the CUET application form, candidates can select upto five CUET subjects aligning with the subjects studied in class 12th and course requirement.

Candidates must attempt all the questions of the subjects selected. However, candidates must keep in mind the negative marking and select the options carefully.

Common University Entrance Test (CUET) sample papers are released by the conducting body, National Testing Agency (NTA). To download the CUET question papers follow the steps below:

About CUET Exam

CUET is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency for admission to undergraduate courses at CUET participating central, state, government, private, and deemed universities across India. More than 200 universities provide admission through CUET UG. The CUET 2026 exam will be conducted in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode only. The candidates will be able to select up to five subjects, including one language, three or four domain subjects, and a general aptitude test. From 2025, candidates are given the flexibility of selecting subjects irrespective of their subjects in Class 12th.

No, CUET marks is not a compulsory requirement for getting admission in MSc programme of LPU. However, the university accepts valid scores of CUET as well as it's own in-house entrance exam called LPUNEST for giving admission in MSc at LPU.
