JEC Life Through My Lens.
Placements: From CSE 2024 batch, the placements were not as expected. Around 60-65% got placed. The average package was around 5.5 LPA. Vedanta Mining was the top recruiter in Mechanical Engineering. For CSE, Gratia Infotech was the top recruiter. Dish Technology recruited for various positions.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure is up to the mark with well-maintained classrooms, library, and labs. Gym facilities are available. Wi-Fi connectivity is good with good speed. Hostels are proper. There are 8 boys' hostels and 2 girls' hostels. Hostels have a good environment with the best junior and senior bonding.
Faculty: CSE has helpful faculty. There is room for innovation and self-learning. Teachers are supportive. The 1st semester is a little tough, but with time, it gets better. Lab facilities are the best for CSE. The curriculum is not that good, but it follows the typical CSE syllabus.
Other: College fest takes place in March. There are several clubs. Sports week includes inter-hostel cricket, football, etc.

Average facilities and environment.
Placements: For the 2022-23 academic year, the placement percentage for CSE is 55.56%. The highest package offered is 9.5 LPA, the lowest is about 2 LPA, and the median is about 4.8 LPA. Top recruiting companies include OIL India, NRL, startups, and majorly government offices like BSNL and APDCL. Top roles in my course are SDE.
Infrastructure: LAN is available in the hostels, and campus Wi-Fi is available but slow. The central library has just been constructed and will open shortly, along with an indoor stadium. There are 4-5 open playgrounds and volleyball facilities. Hostel facilities are not up to mark, and mess food, particularly at lunch hours, is not satisfactory. There are no in-campus medical facilities, but JMCH is nearby.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and resourceful, though there are some exceptions. The curriculum is relevant if pursued with interest. Semester exams are relatively easy but require constant effort. The pass percentage is about 60%, with poorer results in earlier semesters.

Review of Jorhat Engineering College.
Placements: Almost 70% of students get placed every year. PSU like ONGC, IOCL and NRL recruit students through campus placements. IT companies like TCS (Tata Consultancy Service), Infosys, and Capgemini also recruit students from our college. The highest salary package offered was 24 LPA by NRL.
Infrastructure: LAN facility is available 24X7. Hostels is clean and our campus is very beautiful. Seniors are very friendly and helpful in curriculum. Ambulance facility is provided by the college in case of medical emergency.
Faculty: Faculty members are very good and they clear our doubts always. Faculty member also visit hostel 2-3 days in a week to clear our doubts. Teachers here conduct extra classes to complete the syllabus. Difficulty level of our exams is moderate. The course curriculum is relevant. The pass marks are 25 out of 70 in theory exams.
Other: Cultural events and sports are conducted.

JEC is a college with a few flaws, but it has absolutely good teachers and a VFM.
Placements: Almost all of the students from the CSE branch were recruited during this placement season. The average salary package ranges from 5.5 LPA to 6.5 LPA. Companies like Cognizant, Oil, Vedanta, Wipro, Allegan, etc., recruited students from our college. It is mandatory for all students to participate in internships.
Infrastructure: The labs are well-equipped with all the necessary apparatuses and devices. There are eight boys' hostels and two girls' hostels. The quality of food is quite good there. Although there is not much provision for sporting activities, interest in this field is increasing. Some infrastructure has been built in the meantime.
Faculty: The teachers are very knowledgeable and helpful. The course curriculum is quite balanced and follows the latest AICTE norms. But as we all know the present scenario of our Indian education system, you have to judge whether our curriculum is relevant to industrial skills or not. The toughness of exams here is average, and the pass percentage is more than 50%.
Other: I opted for this course as it is quite relevant in our CSE field. The thing that I want to see improved in our college is cleanliness. It is very essential here. Phoenix is the main fest at our college.

It has average teachers, good placements in 2018 and good infrastructure in the college and hostel.
Placements: Placements are high in computer science department compared to other branches. PSUs visit our college mostly for mechanical, electrical and instrumentation departments. However, I have seen various IT companies conduct mass recruitment here. The highest salary package offered for jobs is 18 LPA. The lowest salary package offered ranges from 3 LPA. Students could expect an average salary package of around 5 LPA-7 LPA in companies excluding mass recruiters which offer less salary packages. Some of the recruiting companies for computer science department include Cognizant, Infosys, TCS, Recom Infotech, Wipro, etc.
Infrastructure: At a regional level, this college provides great infrastructure, but libraries are available only in regular days from only 8 am to 4 pm. Wi-Fi facility available on the campus is one of the best and has a high speed. Wi-Fi is available for 24 hours a day, and the average speed is 100 Mbps. Classrooms are also of standard quality with plenty of space. Lab facilities for computer science are very good with plenty of high-speed desktop computers to provide every student with one PC. There are 10 hostels currently, and one new hostel is under construction. Among 10 hostels, 8 are for boys, while 2 are for girls. Students can enjoy the VIP electricity facility and 24 hours of unlimited high-speed internet (LAN).
Faculty: For the computer science department, there are plenty of faculty members for every topic who might be interested in. Their teaching quality is up to the mark, and they are very knowledgeable. Some of them are highly skilled in their interested topic in both practical and theoretical aspects like artificial intelligence, DBMS, microprocessors, microcontrollers, etc. I could give a rating of 7.5 stars out of 10 stars for the relevancy of course curriculum because at some point some subjects are introduced which depend on some other basic topics which are not in the course curriculum. So, students have to do some extra courses to feel comfortable with those topics. However, these basics could be easily found on Youtube, where they are explained well.
Other: I have chosen Jorhat Engineering College because it is a popular engineering college in Assam. This college is most popular for computer science and engineering, so I opted for it. Later I realised that I made the correct choice. The course is worth it. Moreover, from my experience prior, I have chosen it based on my basic knowledge of this field. Every year our college hosts two main fests which include a technical fest and a cultural fest named Phoenix. The connectivity to our college is good, and the transportation facility is available from 6:30 am to 8 pm. After that, for transportation, students would require to reserve private vehicles like auto-rickshaw, etc.

Review of Jorhat Engineering College.
Placements: When you think about a government college, you might not think about placements. But it's not true. Half of the students in our branch got placed already. Students got placed in companies like TCS, Wipro, ONGC, etc. The placement cell of Jorhat Engineering College is a central hub for other colleges for placements.
Infrastructure: Jorhat Engineering College offers AICTE recognised B.E. courses in civil, electrical, computer science, mechanical and instrumentation engineering. It also offers three years post-graduation in masters in computer applications. Every year students give a state entrance exam to get into these courses. JEC has 8 boys hostels and 2 girls hostel. Each hostel has a common room where students can spend their time watching TV and playing games. There are a few playgrounds for playing games. For students, there are general common rooms for boys and girls.
Faculty: Jorhat Engineering College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University which is a state-run university. So the courses are well designed for the students and are completely based on their field of study. This course is the same as the GATE syllabus, so you don't have to study for GATE separately. Teachers are experienced in their fields and very much capable of answering any of your doubts.
Other: Last year our first tech fest called Technovous 2019 was conducted at our college. This fest had various competitions, including coding, quizzes, etc. It was conducted separately from our annual cultural fest called Phoniex. This fest lasts for 3 days, and popular artists from India and abroad come to perform.

For CSE, it is good, and for others, it's ranged between average to above average.
Placements: Placements in our college are average. Top 15-20 students from each branch can clear it. The salary offered ranges from Rs. 15,000-30,000 per month depending upon the performance of the candidate. Training and placement cell always give their best for conducting placement drives not only on the campus but also the pool campus.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is certainly good if not the best along with AEC in entire north-east India when it comes to computer science and engineering. The infrastructure of other departments is slightly outdated. Basic first aid facility is available here. ATM is available on the campus along with a bank and a police outpost. Hostel facility for both genders is available in a large number.
Faculty: Faculty members for CSE are the best not only in the entire college but also in entire northeast India. The course curriculum is up to date. Faculty members for the CSE department are headed by Dr Rupam Barua sir ( as of 2019). All the faculty members related to the CSE department are extremely friendly.
Other: Events named Phoenix is organised here. Campus crowd during 2016 was around 425 per semester. To reach college, it takes 10-15 minutes from the city and 20-30 minutes from ISBT. The college bus is provided, private autos are also available during the day. Scholarships are available here. Extracurricular activities like Robotics and some others are conducted.

Needs improvement on a few more things. Overall a good college in quite a low cost.
Placements: The placement records of our college is satisfactory. Around 60% of the students form our branch of the previous batch is placed. The salary ranges from 3.5 LPA to 17 LPA. The average salary is around 6 to 7 LPA. There is a training and placement cell in our college. Many companies especially IT companies were invited this year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not too good. But construction of new auditorium and new canteen is going on. Several other renovations are also going on. The environment is good. There is plenty of greenery around. There is also a beautiful lake in front of the main building.
Faculty: The teachers are very good and approachable. Most of the faculty are highly qualified. Audio visual aids are frequently used in classrooms which are equipped with overhead projectors. Assignments are given quite frequently and also students are often asked to give presentations on topics of the curriculum.
