Karnataka State Open University Admission 2025: Eligibility, Courses, Fees, Application

Yes, KSOU offers dual-degree programmes where candidates can pursue two ODL courses simultaneously. Candidates can even pursue one regular degree along with an ODL course of KSOU. However, this does not apply to the PhD programmes. The dual-degree programme was approved by UGC in 2022 and KSOU was the first university in the state to adopt it.

The total fee for BCom at KSOU is INR 25,700 for three years. This includes the tuition fee, admission fee, security deposit, etc. Some components of the fee, like the tuition fee, are payable annually while others are payable once at admission. Karnataka State Open University eligibility criteria vary depending on the course. The university admits applicants purely on a merit basis. After the online document verification, KSOU sends approval to the eligible applicants. Such applicants must confirm their admission by submitting the first-year fee for BCom at KSOU. This includes the first-year tuition fee, admission fee, security deposit, etc. The amount of fee payable at admission is INR 8,900. The first-year fee for BPL Holders (Women), Defense & Ex-servicemen, Auto/Cab Drivers & their families, KSRTC/ BMTC/KKRTC staff is INR 8,290. Step 1: Visit the KSOU website and click on the admission portal.
Step 2: Fill out the application and select the nearest Learner Support Centre and Regional Centre.
Step 3: Students need to upload the required self-attested scanned documents.
Step 4: Visit the selected regional centers/headquarters along with the relevant original documents and one set of copies for verification.
Step 5: Pay the stipulated fee after the verification of documents.
Step 6: Candidates can collect roll numbers, study material and ID cards.

Candidates belonging to any one of the following three categories are exempt from paying fees at KSOU:

• Transgenders
• Blind Candidates (Except for MBA & B.Ed)
• Children from families deceased in Covid-19 

To avail of the fee exemption, candidates must submit suitable documents supporting their eligibility. Addionally, SC/ST/OBC candidates are eligible for fee reimbursement from the Social Welfare Department. Applications for fee reimbursement can be submitted on the State Scholarship Portal.
