KSOU BCom Eligibility & Highlights 2024
Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) BCom is an Open & Distance Learning (ODL) programme extended in Engish medium. The duration of the programme is three years. The maximum duration to complete the BCom programme is five years. Admission to the programme is provided to candidates who meet any one of the following KSOU BCom eligibility criteria:

Candidates must have passed the Two-Year Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Board in Karnataka State, or any other examination considered equivalent thereto
- Candidates from other states must have completed 12 years of schooling excluding nursery education
- Candidates must have completed Pre-University Education in Vocational Courses with relevant subjects conducted by the Department of Vocational Education, Government of Karnataka
The university also allows direct admission/lateral entry to the second year of the programme. To be eligible for the lateral entry, applicants must have passed a Three-year Diploma in Commercial or Secretarial Practice, conducted by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka
Karnataka State Open University BCom Fees
The fee structure for KSOU courses includes various components, such as tuition fees, security deposit, admission processing fees, etc. The BCom fee at KSOU is payable annually. The total course fee for three years is INR 19.9 K. A concession of 10% on the tuition fee is provided to the students belonging to the following categories: BPL Holders (Women), Defense & Ex-servicemen, Auto/Cab Drivers & their families, KSRTC/BMTC/KKRTC staff. KSOU BCom admission 2024 for the July cycle is currently ongoing. The university started accepting applications for the July cycle on July 22, 2024. KSOU BCom Curriculum
The KSOU BCom curriculum is spread over three years. The curriculum follows an annual pattern and is not divided semester-wise. The university follows a credit system where each subject carries certain credit points. The BCom curriculum followed at KSOU involves the study of accounting at various levels, direct taxes, computers in business, management, financial markets, auditing, business & corporate laws, etc. In addition to the core courses, students must choose any two languages during the first and the second year. The language options available the the university include Kannada, Telugu, English, Hindi, Urdu and Sanskrit.

Each credit is of 30 hours of study comprising of all learning activities such as studying the self-learning material, participating in the counseling/contact classes, preparing assignment, visiting library/industry/institution, interacting through audio-visual related issues and preparing for exams. In addition to the core subjects related to the field of commerce, students must choose two language subjects. Additionally, they must study Indian Constitution, Human Rights and Environmental Studies (ICHR&ES) in the first year and Computer Applications in the second year.

Yes, you can take readmission for a three year correspondence course at KSOU for studying a new specialisation. Candidates can pursue a new specialization, even with a regular BA completed 10 years ago. Please note, readmission is for the studnets who were enrolled earlier.
