Q:   Does MITID Pune have a design program?
A: 

Yes, MIT Institute of Design (MITID) offers UG, PG, and PG Diploma courses in the field of design. At the UG level, the institute offers a three-year full-time Bachelor of Design (BDes) which is the flagship course of MITID. The BDes programme is offered across twelve specialisations. Also, the institute offers a Masters of Design (MDes) programme. MDes programme being a PG level programme is offered across fourteen specialisations.

Candidates seeking admission to the courses offered at MIT Institute of Design must take the Design Aptitude Test conducted by the institute based on which candidates will be shortlisted for the Studio test and Personal Interview (PI) rounds. The qualification of these aforementioned rounds will decide the final seat allotment.

Q:   What is the fee for PG courses at MIT Institute of Design?
A: 

Different PG courses at MITID have different tuition fees. For example, the 1-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Innovation Programme costs INR4,95,000, while the 2-year M.Des in Communication Design is INR3,42,500 per year. Expect additional fees like development charges, university fees, and hostel/mess charges. These can add up to another INR 1,20,000-1,50,000 per year.

No, in my knowledge there is no other way of entering the institute without giving the MIT DAT exams.

DAT includes questions which are objective, subjective and a drawing test. The objective and subjective selections will be conducted on computer for drawing the question will be on the screen but the canditate must draw on a  A4 sheet . In the second round, a personal interview and portfolio review will be done and the results will be declared on the MITID websites.

The marks are as followed for Design Aptitude Test it is 25 for Portfolio review 25 marks and Personal Interview 50 marks.

The last date to fill the MITID DAT registration form is February 28, 2026. The exam will be conducted on April 12, 2026. MITID DAT (Design Aptitude Test) will be in online & pen-paper mode.

MITITD DAT examination will have computer-based MCQ (objective) test, subjective test and offline drawing test.

  •  Objective Exam – Computer Based Test
  • Descriptive Exam – Computer Based Test
  • Drawing Exam – Offline Test Candidates need to draw using Pens / Pencils / Colours on the sheets provided.

  • MDes/ M.Arch/ MTech/ M.E/ MCA with 60% aggregate at least
  • MBA or equivalent with relevant studies in Design field and Bachelor's degree in any field with 60% marks at least

The MITID DAT 2025 result will be declared on April 23, 2025 after 5 PM for cycle 1. The Design Entrance Test (DET) was conducted on April 06, 2025. The Final List for B Des and M Des are as follows:
