MNIT Jaipur to Host Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences, Prof. Jean Tirole

November 23, 2022: On November 24, 2022 (Thursday), at 3:30 PM, in NITI Sabhagar, Prabha Bhawan, Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur (MNIT Jaipur) will host Prof. Jean Tirole, Toulouse 1 Capitole University, France, a Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences and a well-known economist, for an invited lecture on "Fighting the war against climate change." In November 2022, Prof. Tirole is welcomed for an academic visit to a few esteemed and recognised institutes in India. Top academics and researchers from prestigious institutions in various regions of the nation will have the chance to connect technically with the acclaimed individual at this event. Other luminaries, such as Prof. Nitin Seth, Director of CEFIPRA, will attend the occasion. The Indo-French Center for the Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA), which aims to encourage high-quality information exchange between the two countries, and MNIT Jaipur are collaborating to organise this talk. For a wide number of interested audiences, including faculty members and researchers, the institute will also live-stream this talk.
Prof. Tirole's thorough examination of market power and restrictions earned him the 2014 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. His academic achievements in game theory, economics, and psychology are unmatched, and he has received several honours and accolades for them. He serves as a distinguished visiting professor at MIT. Additionally, he serves as the foundation's honorary chairman for the JJ Laffont-Toulouse School of Economics (TSE). In addition to receiving the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, his notable academic achievements also include the 2007 BBVA Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Economics, Finance, and Management, the Yrjo Jahnsson Prize of the European Economic Association, and the Gold Medal of the CNRS. In addition to writing 12 books and more than 200 articles, he has delivered more than 100 lectures around the world. His academic contributions are not limited to the field of economics, as his framework for creating regulations has found use in a variety of industries, from telecommunications to finance.
One of the nation's oldest technical schools, MNIT Jaipur is one of the select group of nationally significant institutions founded by an Act of Parliament. The Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the Government of France jointly established the distinguished Indo-French Centre for the Promotion of Advanced Research (IFCPAR/CEFIPRA). Additionally, CEFIPRA serves as a hub for international cooperation in research across a range of Science & Technology fields.
