Review of Bachelors in fashion technology from the NIFT Mumbai.
Placements: NIFT was offering good placements and internship opportunities to its students. In the last semester, around 30–40% of the students gets placements at this college. The average package offered at this college was between 4-6 LPA. The top recruiters were Perals group, Tata luxury, Puma India, etc. Students also gets internship with good stipend.
Infrastructure: The college had good infrastructure and facilities for our course. In our course department, all the necessary facilities were available for the students. Various modern facilities for drafting and designing were available at the college. Sports, Wi-Fi, library and all other facilities were available for the better learning of the students.
Faculty: The professors at our college were helpful, qualified and knowledgeable about our course. All the teachers were teaching us well. The course curriculum followed at the college was relevant and it made the students industry-ready. Semester exams at the college were of a moderately difficult level. Various workshops were organized at the college by the teachers.

Placements: Almost 100% of students get placed every year in our college. The highest salary package offered is 12 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges between 5 LPA - 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies are RBL, Arvind, Vardhaman Textile, Raymonds, H&M, etc. Top roles offered are apparel production manager, quality manager, garment merchandiser, and warehouse manager.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good. Our college provides good facilities. Our college has Wi-Fi-equipped classrooms, well-equipped labs, and an extensive resource center. The hostel facilities are good. The food served in the hostel is good. Medical facilities are available in the hostel. The hostel has a recreation room, a court, etc.
Faculty: Our teachers are highly qualified. They are helpful and knowledgeable. They make students industry-ready. They guide us. Semester exams are not very difficult. The pass percentage is 50%.
Other: The best thing about this course is that it offers a variety of subjects and knowledge of different areas in one particular course. They should provide more practical knowledge. Many events and fests are held in our college. Our college is very good. Our college has good surroundings. Scholarship facility is available in our college.

Review of National Institute of Fashion Technology.
Placements: Placements are very good from Mumbai, Bangalore, or Delhi for the students with good marks. There are higher chances of getting a good placement. Around 70% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: Course is very good with facilities like Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, and a library. Lab coordinators are very good and helpful. Hostel for girls is very good and for boys is above average. Canteen food is very good, takes proper care of hygiene.
Faculty: Exams are very well conducted. All the teachers are well qualified and very helpful. During online classes (due to Covid) a lot of students faced problems in understanding practical portions but it is something which was everywhere and can't be helped.
Other: Students have to learn pattern making and garment construction from Sem 2 to Sem 4. It is very difficult. Campus could be bigger.

Q: Is there any age limit for appearing in NIFT?
A:
In case of the B. Des and B.FTech programmes, the candidates should be less than 24 years as on July 1 of the admission year. There is relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories. However, there is no age limit for applying to the postgraduate programmes at NIFT. When applying for admission to design courses at the NIFTs, the candidate must also carefully go through the academic requirements. Note that even if a candidate qualifies the NIFT Entrance Exam but doesn't meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, he or she will not be considered for admission.
Q: Will my candidature for NIFT 2024 be cancelled if I select the wrong admission category?
A:
The candidate has to select their admission category at the time of filling out the NIFT 2024 application form. The candidate must make sure that they have the requisite valid and verificable certificate supporting their category.
Note that the category selected by a candidate at the time of submitting the application form will be considered as final.
If a candidate selects a reserved category i.e. SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS/PWD but fails to submitted a valid Category Certificate, he or she will be considered for open category seats provided any benefit of relaxed age or income or cut offs has not been availed by the candidate at any stage of the Admission Process. If any benefit has been availed, the candidate’s application will be rejected.
Also, if a reserve category candidate is considered for open category, then he/she will have to pay the difference in amount of application fee as applicable for open category.

I am satisfied with the placements but dissatisfied with the salary packages offered.
Placements: Almost every student gets placement but the initial package offered is very little. The highest salary package offered was 18 LPA. But not everyone gets such packages. Companies like Raymond, Arvind, etc., offer placements. Some students get into the industry while some prefer going for higher studies.
Infrastructure: NIFT Mumbai has one of the best campuses among all the NIFTs. Every classroom has air-conditioners. The campus has Wi-Fi as well. Due to covid, college is not providing hostel and canteen facilities. You will find creativity in everything. It also has a basketball and badminton (outdoor) court.
Faculty: Teachers here are well-experienced with vast knowledge. The course curriculum is designed very well and it makes students eligible to get into the industry. The exams never seemed difficult. But the workload will definitely be high in the last moments. To get promoted, one has to score 50% of the total marks.
Other: Our college organises many events which also helps students to explore other activities as well.

I am dissatisfied with the course, college and faculty members.
Placements: Due to Covid-19, placements are still not organised. But if we see placements of last year students, they either not placed or placed with a very low package. Placements in our college are below average.
Infrastructure: NIFT Mumbai campus has everything. Our college provides facilities like the best resource centre, Wi-Fi connection and new building have a centralised air-conditioner. The hostel facility is well-maintained, and the quality of the food served is excellent. Our college provides labs in our course like pattern making lab and garment construction lab. A testing lab is also available in other departments that we can use by taking permission. Different kind of machines is available here, which we use in the garment industry.
Faculty: The course curriculum is very old, and it is not suited for today's industry environment. It has 3 internships, but it does not make us ready for industry and job. Teachers in our college are biased. We have a CMS system where feedback is given to faculty, but no one keeps its record.
Other: The best thing about our course is its exposure related to the apparel industry, and they can't make you skilled in any one section of the industry. You will have a summary of everything, and later on, it will not be helpful at all. There should be one skill-based course which should not be a subject, but it should be an additional certificate to students if they want to do something other than that course. The college conducts a lot of extracurricular activities, but students don't have time to take part in these due to a lot of assignments. Scholarships are just for namesake, and if you even apply for it, then the accounting department will hold and not let you take advantage of this. If they give a scholarship, then it will be a loss to college.

It is not worth a course, because at last you will get the knowledge, but you will not get the job.
Placements: Almost 100% of the students from our course got placed. The highest salary package offered is 12 LPA, and the average salary package offered ranges between 5-6 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Shahi Exports, Vardhman, Orient Craft, Arvind, etc., visit our campus for placements. All the students do an internship in the garment industry because it is a part of our course curriculum. Top roles like management, sales, marketing, quality department, etc., are offered to the students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is very good. You will get every facility on the campus. The hostel can accommodate about 450 students. The hostel has facilities like a TV room, library, study area, playing area, beauty parlour and gym. Quality of the food in the hostel is average, but the hostel fee is too high, according to the facility they provide you.
Faculty: Faculty members teaching quality is average. You will get real exposure when you work with the companies during an internship. That is the real place where you to study the current market circumstances and work on it. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students industry-ready.
Other: If you are interested in garments and garment related business, then this course is best for you. Events organised at our college are great, and you can enjoy it. Scholarships are just available in NIFT, but no one gets it ever.

Come here for your interest and not for the brand name of NIFT.
Placements: Every year, the placements of the college are declining. The students are forced to attend the recruitment process of the companies which offer lower salary packages of Rs. 2 lakhs to Rs. 3 lakhs. These packages are very less as compared to the subsequent previous year packages. The fee is rapidly increasing by 10 percent every year which tells that it is not a good course to opt as you have to pay more fees. The scholarships are also very less for the institution as most of them are given to other engineering colleges.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. We have two buildings which are called academic block 1 and academic block 2. The hostel for boys is not good, and when compared to the girl's hostel, the boy's hostel is far worse as lesser facilities are provided. Most of the times, the boy's hostel has the Wi-Fi issues. The clean water is not provided.
Faculty: The faculty members of the college are mostly biased. Mostly face marking is done to the students. They are not at all motivating. In fact, the faculty members are very much qualified, but even then only some of the faculty members teach properly. One should not come here just for the name of NIFT but should come on the basis of their interest. If you have an interest in the technology and the mass production of the garments and the process, only then you should take admission at NIFT.

Not a good choice to opt career. Don't go for the brand, go for your interest and skills.
Placements: Earlier the placements were good at decent packages. But the scenario, has been changed. The students are not getting decent packages, and students have to attend for the salary packages of 2-3 lakhs per annum also. Then also all the students are not getting campus placements. Only 10-15 students are getting campus placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, but the total area of the campus is too small. It is more like a school rather than a college. The campus is too small, but the life is good here in Mumbai. Being located in Navi Mumbai, you can remain away from the rush and polluted life of the Mumbai. There are two buildings, and the new building is fully centralised air-conditioned.
Faculty: Most of the faculty here are very experienced. Some of the alumni of the organization can guide you through the various courses in NIFT. They are non-supportive, If you take admission here, then you have to rely on yourself and your skills. The course is not as good as you think. If you are motivated to work on production floors or work for the core apparel production industry then only you can pursue this course.

No, you cannot take direct admission at NIFT Mumbai. The college offers merit-based admission based on the scores in NIFT exam. Merit is calculated based on score in GAT, CAT exam as well as situation test and personal interview. Candidates need to clear the cutoff of exam and fulfill the eligibilit

NIFT Mumbai offers entrance-based admission. The registration window for NIFT entrance exam is closed now. The application window ran from December 8, 2025, to January 19, 2026 (with late fees). The entrance exam for 2026 was conducted on February 8, 2026.
