B.A. (Hons.) in Economics - Batch of 2027
5.0
I'm satisfied with the college because of good placement and better infrastructure.
Placements: St. Xavier's College, Ranchi offers placement opportunities to a portion of its students, with placement rates generally ranging from 20%-30%. The average salary package is around 1.90 LPA but can vary depending on the specific program and company. Top recruiting companies include TCS, Deloitte, ICICI Bank, Accenture, and Cognizant.
Infrastructure: The department offers courses that teach the theoretical tools of economics and applied electives courses that demonstrate how economists use these tools to study a wide variety of real-world economic issues. The department also runs a 2-year PG program (M.A.) in economics.
Faculty: All professors are very helpful to the students. The college requires a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. Semester exams are neither that tough nor that easy but at a moderate level. Professors make sure that we have done all our assignments.
Other: I chose this college to demonstrate thoughtful research and genuine enthusiasm for the specific program faculty and campus culture.

Xavier ki Shiksha, with no placements.
Placements: Our college don't provide any placements or internships. The course don't provide internships. We get no placements in our college. We get no placements in our college. We get no placements in our college. We get no placements in our college. We get no placements in our college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. Every classroom has a smart board to study, we also have Wi-Fi in the college. Our library provides us access to more than 5000 books. Now lets talk about the hostel it has lots of facilities like playground to play, study hall to study, good food in mess. And all the students live happily together in hostel. Also we have good sports faculty that gives us opportunity to shine and show our strength in sports. There are various sports events organised like football, cricket, badminton, tennis, chess, volleyball, basketball.
Faculty: The teachers here are full of knowledge and ready to teach the students in a very playful and easy manner. They just don't teach us to gain bookish knowledge but also to gain the experience and knowledge from real world. The course curriculum is relevant and it makes the students industry ready to shape their future in a proper manner. The semester exam in college is difficult for those who don't study or pay attention in the class. As almost 80% students pass the examination with 0 back papers.
Other: I chose this course for the betterment for my future as I love to study economics and always eager to know about the economical facts and about its studies. The best thing about my course is I find it enjoyable while studying. The only thing that should be improved in my course is about the attendance criteria of 75%. I don't like it at all. There are various events organised almost every week in the college. The main event is the Xavier Fest held on the month of March or April. It is the grand event of our college.

Eagle view of pandemic batch.
Placements: Only a few streams get opportunities like courses based on computer, commerce and few in science. Rest of the opportunities are entry-level. Somewhere, science students are taken and other is commerce. I believe there is no opportunity for placements for arts students for the same field. You are only obliged to entry level positions in MNC or anywhere.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are broad with adequate air and light. The classes comply with the latest technology. Projectors are present but need to be checked. There is a great delay in repairing from the management side. It's one of the best colleges in the Easter zone. Outside the college is fascinating. Some classes are equipped with air-conditioners.
Faculty: The course is excellent and faculty members are also great. It is absolutely difficult to cope with our time. We were taking exams offline while getting online classes. On admit card, it's officially that we would be notified before 21 days but in our case, we were informed before 10 days. Faculty members provide enough materials to understand the concepts. We have the same course curriculum as taught at Delhi University, so indeed it's a great deal.
Other: The environment is cool though in our time (pandemic batch), we were mostly restricted to our home. There are different clubs that cater to different interests.

The education quality is good.
Placements: I am a first-year student. In my course, the highest package offered is 3 LPA, and the lowest package is approximately 90,000 per annum. The average package is 1 to 1.5 LPA. I have no idea about internships. Call center jobs and some low-grade jobs are offered. About 10% of students got internships.
Infrastructure: The facilities are good. There is no Wi-Fi. Labs are provided. The library is very easy to access, but we are not allowed to read without issuing the books. The hostel is good and only for boys. 3 canteens are available with quality food. Medical facilities are good. Sports are held regularly.
Faculty: The teaching quality is very good, and the teachers are friendly, cooperative, knowledgeable, and qualified. This course is very relevant and has a wide scope. Semester exams require good effort to pass. The passing percentage is 40-45%.
Other: Economics is a growing subject and has a good scope. This subject is not just a subject but a behaviour. More real-life practicals are required. There is a separate department for extracurricular activities, and they conduct activities regularly. Students get a fair chance to participate.

Overall, the college is good for learners, and the education quality is good.
Placements: Around 10 to 20% of students got placed from our course. 3 LPA was the highest package, 1 LPA was the lowest package, and 2 LPA was the average package offered. As I am a first-year student, I have no idea about internships.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is excellent. The classrooms are neat and clean. We don't use labs, so I don't have any idea about this. The network connection is very poor in this college. Only a boys' hostel is available. The quality of food is hygienic. Medical facilities and sports and games are good.
Faculty: The teachers are really helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. Their teaching quality is up to the mark. This course curriculum is relevant. According to me, exams are hard in this college compared to other colleges. 40-45% is the passing percentage.
Other: I chose this course because I wanted to know the economic conditions of our country in detail. They should allow us to do some experiments. There are no fresher's and farewell parties even.

The college is good with an affordable fee structure.
Placements: 20-30% of students got placed. The highest package offered is 3 LPA, and I have no idea about the lowest package. I am a first-year student, so I have no idea about top recruiting companies coming to our college. I also don't know about internships. People generally go for general competition.
Infrastructure: The hostel is available only for boys. The infrastructure is quite good. Wi-Fi is available, but you can't use it as the Wi-Fi password is only shared with teachers. The classrooms and library are quite good. Canteen food is very good, but I have no idea about the mess. Medical facilities are available.
Faculty: The teachers in our college are very knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. The course is good. After doing honors in it, you will have lots of opportunities. If you study consistently, the exams become easy for you. The pass percentage is 40-50%.
Other: I have an interest in economics. You can have a wide range of opportunities here. You should connect it to our daily life. Scholarships are available for ST, SC and OBC students only. Students can participate in extracurricular activities.

The teachers are well versed and qualified in their respective subjects
Placements: 15 students have been placed right after completing their degree from St. Xavier's College, Ranchi. The average package was around 10 LPA. Many companies which required Economics graduates took our students. There are many scopes in government as well as private jobs after pursuing a degree in economics. One can go for the Indian Foreign Services, Indian Embassy if they want a government job. They can also opt for companies which require economics graduates.
Infrastructure: The Economics department in St. Xavier's College, Ranchi has its own department library and well furnished classrooms. The college campus has Wi-Fi connectivity. The hostel has many facilities like food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, clean drinking water and clean washrooms and bathrooms.
Faculty: The teachers are well versed and qualified in their respective subjects. They are very helpful, caring and clear every doubt. The course curriculum of Delhi University is followed in the college. The mid semester exams are of moderate to difficult level. The course here makes students industry-ready and to face the challenges ahead in their careers.
Other: I chose Economics Honours because I had interest in it and wanted to pursue my career ahead in the subject. The best thing about choosing economics is that it will become the most required subject in the coming times. The course curriculum could've been a little better. St. Xavier's College, Ranchi college has an annual fest every year which includes various fun and educational activities. The department of economics invites renowned people of the field so that students get an idea of what to do ahead of economics.

This college is much better than other colleges in Jharkhand.
Placements: There is nothing like placements here. Hardly 5-6 students are being placed from the whole college. College management is least bothered about placements. Internships are not provided by the college. Very few companies visit the campus, but mostly they are BPOs. Don't expect anything in the name of internships or placements from the college management.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi facility is provided, but you have to pay a much more than the market rate. Hostel facilities are reserved only for schedule tribes students so I can't comment about it. There are a total of 5 canteens on the campus, and the cost differs a lot from one canteen to others. Classrooms and libraries are average. One will get most of the curriculum books from college libraries, but no books of competitive exams are available in libraries. Library is air-conditioned, but the staffs in the library neither on it nor allow us to on, it may be they are saving electricity bill of college always.
Faculty: Most of the teachers in our college are underqualified and lack professional knowledge. Teaching quality is pathetic, but they are proud that they are the best in the city. The biggest problem in this college is of attendance. Professor keeps on threatening students for everything student does to cut attendance. But few professors are very co-operative and ready to help students in every situation, and even in personal problems. The course curriculum doesn't make students industry-ready.
Other: You are forced to attend college fests in the name of attendance, and one has to come in compulsion. Campus crowd is in no way less than Dusshera fare. But you have to be very disciplined. Otherwise, your identity card will be taken away by college officials. College guards attitude is such that they have served IPS officers prior to joining the college as a guard. Beware of them.
