My life at Yenepoya university .
Placements: Students who score above 80 are the ones who are going to have good placement going forward. The highest, lowest, and average packages all depend on how much mark you have scored and how your knowledge is in a particular field. Since it's microbiology with a minor in biotechnology and biochemistry, they offer placement in research centres and labs in hospitals. Yenepoya itself has a hospital where you could be placed after your postgraduate degree. Our seniors are doing internship right now and they are going to some research lab in Bangalore itself. Top roles in my course would be biotechnologist, microbiologist, biochemist, researcher, food inspector, embryologist with M.Sc. in embryology, etc.
Infrastructure: All the classes are provided with a TV where the faculty members teach the students with pdfs and software notes that are easily accessible for all. The labs are highly equipped. We have a library where we get our assignments, records, or research done. They have all kinds of books that are useful for the students. We have a campus cafeteria called Yen Cafe where students who are non-hostilities and hostilities eat food, relax, or have coffee during break. Now about the hostel, it provides the best quality of food and has both Kerala and Bangalore-style menus, which change every month according to the wishes of students. The hostel canteen too has enough items that we get from the college canteen. Our hostel gets visited by doctors every evening, so anyone who is unwell can go and visit. By evening, when the students want to have fun or just relax, we go out and play badminton.
Faculty: The faculty members are superb. They are so knowledgeable, and the way they teach is understandable. They provide us with digital notes that are clearly written. I especially like our faculty, Mr. Danush, as he was helpful during my first year when I could? adjust to the changes as I was an NRI student. All the teachers are undeniably good, and they all give us a comfortable environment to talk with them or ask any doubt. Our teachers make the students be ready for any challenge, and therefore they conduct some programs such as expo and microbial day for us to be individually prepared for any challenge, so yes, they make the students industry ready. The semester exams can be easily taken over if we have good marks for our internals. 50 marks are provided for internal itself, and we have to score 20 marks in sem to pass the exams. The passing percentage is 45%.
Other: I chose this course as it connected to my goals for becoming an embryologist. Microscopy is required for both fields. I wish they would give us so many assignments that we need to finish within 3 to 4 days. It's sometimes tiring. Yenepoya provides the best programs I've ever seen. Last year we had Onam celebrations, Advaya, cultural festivals, carnivals, annual day, etc. The crowd is so huge now that there are new course added to our campus. The surrounding area of our campus is beautiful, as we can see the whole view of Bangalore from our college canteen. Scholarships are provided for the new joining if they have scored above 90 in their board exams. Yenepoya provides extracurricular activities such as karate, basketball, carrom board, and table tennis to play after school hours. Students also get to be volunteers in the NSS, or Red Cross service scheme.
