Tolani Maritime Institute Highlights 2025
Tolani Maritime Institute is a higher educational institution based at Pune, founded in 1998. It is an approved college privately owned and approved by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Maritime Port Authority and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The IMU also provides some of the courses taught by TMI and marketed by the Tolani Education Foundation. Tolani Maritime Institute modules are provided to undergraduate, post graduate, certificate, and other students in different streams like Marine Engineering, Technical Ship Management, and Nautical Science.
The degree programmes at Tolani Maritime have been awarded a Grade A1 (Outstanding) by DNV-GL in the Comprehensive Inspection Programme of DG Shipping and are ISO-certified. TMI is a member of the Global Maritime Education and Training Association. The college conducts Shipboard Structured Training Programmes and other programmes approved by the Directorate General of Shipping in a distance learning mode. Tolani Pune has experienced faculty members and offers placement assistance to students.
It has been noted that over 90% of TMI graduates have secured positions in reputable shipping companies even before their graduation day. After the completion of the 16 weeks of the MSc (Marine Engineering/ Technical Shipment) course at TMI, students can get direct admission to the second semester of the course at the University of Strathclyde for eight weeks.
To get admission to ETO course at TMI, candidates are required to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. Those who pass Class 12 in PCM and English as subjects along with a four-year degree course in the respective subjects are eligible to apply for this course. Admission to this course is entrance-based. Tolani Maritime Institute conducts Tolani Maritime Institute Science Aptitude Test (TMISAT) for admission to the ETO course. The final selection is done based on the performance of candidates in the PI round and the Medical Test conducted at the institute.
For Tolani Maritime Institute DNS admission, candidates must have passed Class 10 or 12 with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics along with at least 50% marks in English. To get admission to MSc course at TMI, students need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria as prescribed by the institute. Aspirants must graduate with minimum 60% aggregate in BTech Marine Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Nautical Technology/ Naval Architecture/ Mechanical Engineering/ Production Engineering. Else, candidates having a three-year Diploma as Deck/ Engine Room Officer or BSc in Nautical Science with a minimum of 60% average with Class I Certificate of Competency as Master/ Chief Engineer may also apply for this course. To study at an international university, they must qualify the English language in IELTs with a score of 6.5 (no element below 5.5) or equivalent.
