M.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2017

A very mediocre department and cold management.
Placements: No companies have visited the campus for PG students. Even though we have visited CGPU numerous times with lists of HRs' phone numbers, the treatment was cold and curt. Internships for PG students in the chemical engineering department were frowned upon by the advisory.
Infrastructure: Lab facilities are very good. Hostel rooms are good. Food is drab, tasteless and expensive. VNIT boasts of being in the top MHRD colleges to collect the highest hostel fees. Internet facilities are very good. The canteen is very bad as they charge more than the MRP. The college ground closes at 7 PM.
Faculty: Some of the faculty members are excellent, and some are bad. None are average. Some professors are genuinely happy to help you out, while others think you as pests, unworthy of their attention (unless you are their pet, or uncle's child). The course curriculum is alright.
Other: The tech fest is bad as it includes activities like Robots fighting, Robots swimming, Robots dancing, Robots eating Poha and Jalebi. The cultural fests are good and so are the sports events.

Excellent infrastructure, faculty may disappoint slightly, average placements.
Placements: The placements are awesome for all the B.Tech branches, whereas, for M.Tech, it will be very less. We have to approach Internship or clear external ESE Exams. Especially for Civil and Mechanical Branches, they will hardly get 5 companies. Other Departments like CSE, ECE, EEE will get companies offering packages of 16 lakhs per annum.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very good as it is a National Institute of Technology. The campus is of 250 acres with excellent hostel facility, stores and sports complex inside. Also, Post Office, SBI and Canara Bank are also available on campus with ATMs. It's a green campus with no smoking zone.
Faculty: The curriculum is decided according to the faculty allotted for a particular subject. The faculty has more power in this academic type. Most of the senior faculty members are good and have a PhD. They are well experienced. The course curriculum is decided once in a year, and the pattern is followed throughout by using that Academic Calendar.
Other: Inside the campus, other than academics, extracurricular activities were held once in every semester. All the extracurricular activities mingled together and are held separately in every week. As NIT students from various states across India have been pursuing their studies here, cross-cultural heritage is well developed. Research facilities are being processed now to build research labs for PhD students. But semester fees are too high compared to other NITs.

VNIT is one of the best colleges in India, almost equal to IIT but too expensive.
Placements: Placements are very good from the software point of view. There are satisfactory jobs for core. The highest package in this year reaches 20lakhs. Unexpected jobs for VLSI this year happened at a peak salary i.e up to 16 lakhs. For civil (MTech) students, maximum jobs were for private university faculty, Infosys, Coal India and Maharastra metro.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is not available on the campus but LAN connections are good. It is allotted for each room in the hostel and the class internet for the college is free. The labs are very well-equipped, classrooms have enough facilities from the education point of view. Free medical services are provided but initially, they charged 5000 rupees for insurance. Every year, students will participate in inter-NIT competitions, Intra meet is also conducted by the college administration.
Faculty: The faculty is awesome and the way of teaching and clarifying doubts is extraordinary. The faculty members in this college are very friendly and well qualified. The college has a knowledgeable faculty. The student-faculty ratio is good. If the students want to do an internship outside the campus, the college faculty members will give a letter of recommendation and accommodation money for the internship. The course curriculum is very useful.
Other: In my opinion, this the best college for BTech students and for the Mtech students also, it is somewhat good. The cultural activities are good enough expose yourself to the society. For the convocation, legendary people attended this college like Abdul Kalam sir and Pranab Mukherjee sir. Every year, a technical fest is conducted by college named AROHI, CONSORTIUM, AXIS and etc. Library, computer labs and everything else is satisfactory

Other: This is a good college with good infrastructure. All the teachers have Ph.D. degrees or are pursuing one. The placements are a little low, but considering the current market situation, it is doing okay. The hostel facilities are very good. The canteen facility is very bad. This is a good environment to study. The Nagpur weather is pleasant, except for the summers. Festivals in the college are up to the mark.

Other: Pros: 1. The brand name and reputation of NIT stands tall and helps greatly in terms of carrying it. 2. The college environment and infrastructure are outstanding with state-of-the-art library that features top publications from foreign universities thereby creating a great environment for academic research. 3. Additional benefits such as high-speed Wi-Fi and promotion of extra-curricular activities make it a great place to be in. Cons: 1. The fees are extremely high thereby acting as a barrier to many. 2. Students are restricted in terms of their role in college administration level decisions. 3. The scope of students participation in practical research such as undertaking live projects is extremely narrow thereby limiting the capabilities.
