Studying Mechanical Engineering at AMU: An insider's perspective.
Placements: About 75–76% of eligible Mechanical students got campus offers. The highest / the lowest / average package: the highest touched 57 LPA, most offers fell 3–4 LPA (the lowest), with an average of 6.5–7 LPA. Top recruiters are L&T, Cummins, Siemens, Tata Projects, NBTC Kuwait, ONGC, Honda, Yamaha, Accenture, and TCS. Internship percent & companies: Roughly 60–70% secured training in firms like ONGC, BHEL, L&T, Indian Railways, Yamaha, and Honda. Top roles offered are graduate engineer trainee, design/CAD engineer, production & quality engineer, maintenance/plant engineer, and a few technical analyst profiles in IT.
Infrastructure: Mechanical Engineering Department at ZHCET, AMU offers spacious classrooms with projectors, Wi-Fi, and well-equipped labs for Heat Transfers, Fluid Mechanics, IC Engines, CAD/CAM, and Materials Testing, supported by licensed software like AutoCAD and ANSYS. Students have access to both a departmental library and the Maulana Azad Library with rich e-resources, hostels provide twin-sharing rooms, study furniture, and routine maintenance, the mess serves affordable north-Indian and Mughlai meals, with canteens for snacks, the AMU Health Centre ensures round-the-clock medical support, sports facilities include playgrounds, courts, gymnasium, and indoor arena, creating a balanced environment for academic work, research, recreation, and overall student well-being.
Faculty: Faculty in Mechanical Engineering at ZHCET, AMU are generally well-qualified (most hold M.Tech or Ph.D.) and approachable, offering guidance in labs, projects, and career planning, teaching quality is moderately good, combining lectures with practical sessions, though some classes still follow traditional methods, the curriculum aligns with core mechanical fundamentals and includes design, thermal, and CAD courses, with moderate exposure to industry software and internships, adequate, but could include more recent trends. Semester exams are of moderate difficult if one follows lectures and lab work regularly. The pass percentage typically stays above 85–90%, making overall academic pressure manageable with consistent study.
Other: I chose this course because Mechanical Engineering gives a broad technical foundation: design, thermals, manufacturing, and materials, ZHCET has a strong heritage and alumni network. The best aspects are the experienced faculty, well-equipped laboratories, access to Maulana Azad Library, green campus, and diverse peer group, which together make learning engaging, areas for improvement include more exposure to cutting-edge tools (automation, additive manufacturing), stronger industry linkage, structured internships, and updated electives reflecting emerging technologies.

This college is best if you want to study with less money and get an average placement.
Placements: The percentage of students placed in Mechanical Engineering in 2024 is 60%. The highest package is an international package of ₹52 LPA given by a company in Kuwait, and the lowest package is ₹4 LPA. Top recruiting companies are L&T, Siemens Energy, Zia Semiconductor, and Engineers India Limited. 20% of students got internships from Mechanical Engineering in companies like ONGC, Yamaha Motors, and Honda, etc. The top roles offered in my course are design engineer (who works on CAD), production engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: In Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology, many facilities are provided by the department. You will get an unlimited Wi-Fi connection. The labs in the department are very good, and the classrooms are also good with ventilation. Here is Asia's biggest university library, named Maulana Azad Library, and a library inside the department is also available. Hostel facilities are also good, the quality of food in the hostel mess is okay but not good. Medical facilities are always available for students, and there are big opportunities for sports and games like volleyball, cricket, football, badminton, skating, etc.
Faculty: Faculty members are good and helpful, with a maximum of them being Ph.D. qualified from many top IITs. They are so knowledgeable, except for some. The curriculum is relevant. It makes the students industry-ready a little bit. The semester examinations in the college are of average difficulty, and 90% of students pass.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in machines and robotics. In this course, we learn about machines, robotics, and energy plants, etc. The faculty members' teaching style is excellent. Faculty members should adopt modern education like IITs.

This college is totally worth it.
Placements: Around 70% of students get placed, with the highest package reaching 19.36 LPA last year; companies like L&T, Avitron Aerospace, and Wonder Cement visit for placement drives, and about 60 to 70% of students receive internship offers for roles such as production in-charge and site engineer.
Infrastructure: In the department, labs are very well-maintained and functional, with Wi-Fi and AC classrooms available, and a separate library is provided. Hostel fees are around 4-5k per year, with very good mess food quality, and the campus boasts grounds for every sport, including a gym, swimming pool, hockey ground, skating club, cricket ground, tennis court, and badminton court.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and well-qualified, with most holding Ph.D.s from top IITs. The course curriculum is relevant. Semester exams are pretty hard, and the pass percentage is around 70%; others get backlogs, which they need to clear in the next semester. .
Other: Lots of fests are held in the department and in the hostel as well.

The training and the placement office here isn't that efficient and is unable to attract firms to hire the immensely talented students.

There is a fantastic life at Aligarh Muslim University.
Placements: Approximately 90% of students get placed in the mechanical engineering course. The highest package last year is 12 LPA and the lowest is the same as the average package, which is 4 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are LnT and Simens along with other MNCs. Almost every student gets internships, and the internship is also a part of the curriculum in mechanical engineering. Top roles like MEP engineer, HVAC engineer, design engineer, etc., are offered here.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi speed is very good all over campus. The library and labs are far better than any other college. Classrooms contain projectors and smart boards. The hostel is the main life of the university. Hostels have all types of facilities, from RO water to hot water in winter. Food is quite good as the food is regulated by the senior students with administration. Every hostel has its own canteen, and along with this, there are other canteens like college canteens and central canteen. Many sports events are held in the university.
Faculty: Teachers are very supportive and helpful. They are well-qualified from foreign universities with the best knowledge of their field. The course curriculum is very relevant to the industry and the fluid part is very good ready for industries. Semester exams are not very difficult, but the pattern is based on the GATE exam. The pass percentage is 33%.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in mechanics and mechanical equipment. The best thing about this course is the lab of the course and this course targets all fields whether it is machine learning, etc. Things that should be improved are the labs, which should be performed seriously like the foreign universities. An annual fest of the college named Zarf is the largest event of the university. Many other events like a hostel, cultural events, university day, etc., are organsied here. The campus crowd is mixed. Many Scholarships are there based on merit.

Review of the best college.
Placements: The placement of this college was really very good. Approximately 70 to 75% of students got placements. The average package was INR 10 LPA at Zenon which offered the role of software engineer. The highest salary package was INR 12 LPA. Cambay engineering offered a role of engineering and research with an average package of INR 9 LPA.
Infrastructure: There was very nice infrastructure available like availability as library, Wi-Fi, and laboratory. Classrooms were really well with many facilities and no need to pay extra charges for college facilities. There was a games committee available at AMU in which you could set your future or play for a nation if you were interested. Medical facilities were also very good. There were many canteens available with quality of food and many types of food available. Hostel was also available with very affordable fee. Canteen was available in every hostel with many facilities.
Faculty: There were very good faculty members available. They were very helpful. Teachers really helped students through their content and also had good teaching skills that helped students in various cases. There were 8 semesters in engineering course. The exams were little bit above moderate. Approximately 80 to 90% of students pass their exams.
Other: I chose this course because there was an excellent education and discipline system. Campus was very beautiful and big. There were places to visit like AMU Kennedy hall in which they organised events and some telecast moral movies that gave students motivation for their aim. The largest library of Asian was also in AMU whose name was Maulana Azad Library and museum was also available.

The college offers an exceptional learning environment with dedicated faculty and modern facilities.
Placements: Approx 40 percent of students got selected in the campus placement, with a maximum package of 8.5 LPA, the lowest at 3.5 LPA and an average of 6.5 LPA. L&T, Reliance, Jacobs, Ramboll, Siemens, etc., visit for hiring students. 100% of students secured internships in several companies or colleges. The top role offered for mechanical engineering students is GET.
Infrastructure: The department offers high-speed Wi-Fi, modern labs, spacious classrooms, and a well-equipped library. Hostels provide comfortable accommodation and nutritious food options. Medical facilities include a health center, and sports amenities feature a gym and various courts, promoting a balanced lifestyle and encouraging student engagement in physical activities.
Faculty: I had an excellent experience at ZHCET. The faculty was highly knowledgeable and supportive, fostering a collaborative learning environment. The curriculum was industry-relevant, featuring hands-on projects and internships that prepared us well for our careers. Exams were challenging yet fair, with a strong pass percentage reflecting effective teaching. Highly recommended!

Review of Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology.
Placements: 40 percent of students are getting placed every year. 4500000 is the highest package, and 320000 is the lowest package. Hindustan Petroleum, Google, and other companies are in our course. 80 percent of students got internships in Microsoft. Senior advisory and management roles are offered by the company.
Infrastructure: Hostel facilities are good, such as food, campus life, and the library. The campus is large, and all the facilities are available on the campus. Hostelers are provided with a cooler, television, and air conditioning. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are available in the hostel mess. Cricket and football are played on the campus. Medical college.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are graduates from IITs and NITs. Teaching skills are good. Yes, the course curriculum is relevant. Yes, students make industry-ready in the college. The semester is difficult because the paper is lengthy. 35 percent is the passing marks in subjects, and lab passing marks are 50 percent.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest. Multiple jobs are offered by companies. Sir Syed Day is celebrated in the month of October. Drama Club Reliance Scholarships are provided by companies.

The return on investment makes the college considerably worthwhile.
Placements: The top recruiting company includes Larsen and Toubro, which visits every year, to my knowledge. The average package is around 6-7 Lacs per annum. Around 60% of students get placed every year, and the rest either opt for higher studies or take some sort of government competitive exams.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is, I would say, above average and stands out. I say this because the buildings are quite old; my college started running in 1932. The university often spends on renovating the classrooms and all. The labs are well-equipped and established. The library, including the book bank, is excellent, containing all sorts of books, journals, e-materials, etc.
Faculty: The faculty is well-qualified and effortlessly connects with students, conveying whatever they want easily. The curriculum is quite old and not updated, but as far as relevance is concerned, the course is still relevant, making the students industry-ready in every way. We can never judge how tough or easy the semester exams are going to be. It depends; sometimes, semester exams are so tough that even toppers struggle to score, and sometimes they're easy enough that everyone passes. Exams are never extremely easy.
Other: I chose the course because of my interest in the field of Automobile. My college has been a renowned institute in core branches. I wish my college attracts more companies for core branches as they used to in the old days. The college and the clubs in the college organize events and fests that are undoubtedly beneficial for the students. Fests are not like the fests of IITs or those organized by private institutes; obviously, it is a government institute with very low fees. Plenty of scholarships are available. Connectivity is good; the railway station is nearby, and as far as the airport is concerned, there is no airport at Aligarh.
