I like being constantly challenged: Shikha Tewari
In school, I selected my course of study according to my interest. I have always loved designing, it has been my passion ever since I was a child. I was always very clear about my goals and where I wanted to go so I went for arts in high school.
I was left with Amity University, Lucknow as the only option because entrance tests in other designing colleges had already taken place. And as it turns out, it was all for good because not only am I able to get tons of exposure, I also am close to my home.
I had cracked admission of my current college through a simple entrance exam which includes a written test and a viva conducted by the university. Since I was determined about taking admission in Amity, I took a risk and didn’t give any other exam as I didn’t believe in wasting money on other colleges when I knew what I wanted.
I didn't take any coaching classes for preparation. I studied on my own with the help of Quora and internet. Yes, for post-graduation, I'll be trying out different colleges as I want to check out all my options and want to gain exposure.
This is my second year in college and I feel like finally, I have found my pace. College is always fully loaded with assignments and classes. It is a very busy and hectic schedule but I like being constantly challenged. I like to attend classes related to textile and designing, as these are the fields I am most interested in. I'm involved in extracurricular activities like managing departmental activities. My department has fashion shows and often, I like to volunteer as a designer. If given a chance, I would like to take part in more creative activities in other fields but right now, I feel I am too busy in my own world to venture out.
I feel my college has given me a space to discover myself and then present myself to the world. It has made me more confident and even so, more adaptive to the world.
