Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing Sciences
This centre mainly focus on performing innovative research in the areas of healthcare and supply chain management with the support of advanced manufacturing technologies like 3D Printing. 3D printing creates parts by building up of objects one layer at a time. This method offers many advantages over traditional manufacturing techniques. 3D Printing is unlikely to replace several traditional manufacturing methods yet there are many applications, where a 3D printer is able to deliver a design quickly, with high accuracy from a functional material.
Understanding the advantages of 3D printing allows designers to make better decisions when selecting a manufacturing process and enables them to deliver an optimal product. Complex designs can be uploaded from a CAD model and printed in a few hours. The advantage of 3D printing is rapid verification and development of design ideas.
Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope Lab (FESEM)
Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) provides topographical and elemental information at magnifications of 10× to 300,000×, with virtually unlimited depth of field. Compared with conventional scanning electron microscopy (SEM), field emission SEM (FESEM) produces clearer, less electrostatically distorted images with spatial resolution down to nanometers – three to six times better.
Testing and Analysis
- Microscopy and microanalysis applications
- Characterization of nanoparticles, fractured surfaces, worn surfaces, metals, composites, organics and polymers
Internet of Things (IoT) Centre
The IoT Centre at CIT facility gives innovative solutions to the challenges faced in product
development cycle. The phrase “internet of things” has arisen to reflect the growing number of smart, connected products and highlight the new opportunities they can represent. It is the expanded capabilities of smart, connected products and the data they generate that are ushering in a new era of competition.
Smart Grid Research Centre
The objective of this research centre is to obtain 100% energy tapping from RES by Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS) to reduce the curtailment of Renewable energy power. This centre is established with the funding from Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India under the scheme Mission Innovation Challenge: Smart Grid (MI:SG) with partner from Smart Grid Energy Research Centre (SMERC), UCLA, USA.
