Choose what you are passionate about: Aarfah Ahmad
Whenever I think of the career I chose, I trace it back to the time in school, when I was just 9 years old and I got my first trophy for my favourite subject, which was Computers. Back then, I was not sure about really choosing this as my career but all I knew was that the liking of this subject can surely prove great for me as it could help me do stuff which I felt was very inspiring. However, at that time, we just had the fundamentals and nothing big, but still I loved it very much. I felt better when I was with machines rather than with people. Later, when I was in my tenth grade and then was the time for me to decide the right path, I made up my mind to pursue Diploma in Computer Engineering as it would be something I would love.
Soon, I pursued my diploma and scored well because of which I got admission into the second-best engineering college of Mumbai - Sardar Patel Institute of Technology (SPIT). Getting into a college like this is tough but not impossible; studying hard with perseverance will aid you. In the beginning it was stressful to compete with the students out there, as everybody was equally good. But you don’t need to worry about that and you should never forget that you are not less;. Grab every opportunity you can to show your calibre, participate into extracurricular and co-curricular activities and get internships if possible. SPIT is actually good when it comes to placements. In addition, I am very grateful to our seniors who organised special classes for us to help in the placement process by brushing all our concepts, keeping mock tests and interview. Preparing for placements was a bit difficult but all that was required was dedication and a bit of hard work. Now, I am finally placed in Quantiphi as a Data Engineer. Therefore, I would suggest that you must always pursue what you love doing and not get distracted by what others say.
Concluding this article, here are a few things I would like to mention again - choose what you are passionate about, be it singing or playing a sport and work hard as it will always earn you success.
