The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has commenced the MHT CET 2026 counselling process for admission to engineering, pharmacy and other professional courses. The counselling process is conducted through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP), which allows eligible candidates to apply for admission

The CET Cell has revised the MHT CET 2026 CAP counselling dates for rounds 2, 3 and 4. The MHT CET CAP schedule is available for all events such as option entry, seat allotment, acceptance and reporting dates. Students must adhere to the official schedule to confirm their admission. MHT CET 2026 Counselling Schedule

MHT CET CAP Dates 2026: The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, Maharashtra has announced the revised dates for MHT CET 2026 CAP rounds 2, 3 and 4. The deadline for seat acceptance and college reporting for round 2 MHT CET seat allotment 2026 has been extended to August 18. Further, the authorities will announce the MHT CET vacant seats ahead of round 3 counselling on August 19.

Candidates must take a look at the MHT CET seat matrix for round 3 before moving ahead with the option form. The MHT CET option entry for CAP round 3 is scheduled to be held from August 20 to 22.

Only those who are listed in the final MHT CET merit list 2026 will be considered for admission. The authorities will conduct four rounds of MHT CET counselling. Through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) process, candidates can get admission to engineering, pharmacy and other professional courses in participating colleges across Maharashtra. MHT CET CAP offers admission into BE, BTech and Pharmacy programmes at participating institutes across Maharashtra. Since the MHT CET exam was held in two sessions, the authorities consider the best of both attempts for admission.

Candidates who have not applied or still have not appeared in MHT CET can participate in the counselling based on their JEE Main score. Those who do not have MHT CET or JEE Main score can also participate in counselling based on class 12 marks.

Q:   Can I participate in MHT CET counselling if I did not appear in MHT CET exam?

Candidates who have not appeared in MHT CET exam can participate in the counselling based on their JEE Main score, if appeared. Candidates who did not appeared either in JEE Main or MHT CET can participate in the counselling based on their class 12 percentage.

Admission in BTech courses in Maharashtra is given on the basis of three exams

  • MHT CET
  • JEE Main
  • Class 12 Marks

A certain number of seats are reserved under Home-State quota and All India quota. All India quota seats are filled on the basis of JEE Main scores while Home-State quota seats are filled on through MHT CET scores. At the end of counselling/seat allotment on the basis of MHT CET and JEE Main, seats that remain vacant are filled on the basis of class 12 marks.

At the time of registration for MHT CET counselling, candidates need to provide the detail of applying for admission on the basis of JEE Main/MHT CET or class 12.

What is MHT CET CAP Process?

The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) is the official counselling process through which seats are allotted in Maharashtra engineering and pharmacy colleges. The entire process is conducted online by the CET Cell. The counselling process includes:

  • Online registration
  • Uploading and verification of documents
  • Publication of provisional merit list
  • Submission of grievances, if any
  • Final merit list
  • Option form and college preference filling
  • CAP seat allotment rounds
  • Reporting to allotted institutes

Documents Required for MHT CET Counselling

Candidates should keep the following documents ready before the CAP registration begins:

  • MHT CET 2026 scorecard
  • Class 10 mark sheet
  • Class 12 mark sheet
  • School leaving certificate
  • Domicile certificate, if applicable
  • Caste certificate and validity certificate, if applicable
  • Income certificate for EWS or scholarship benefits
  • Aadhaar card
  • Passport-size photograph

MHT CET Merit List

After document verification, the CET Cell releases a provisional merit list. Candidates are given time to raise objections, if they find any errors, to the provisional list. The authorities then publish a final merit list after considering all the valid objections.

With a 51 percentile in MHT CET you might have limited options for top-tier engineering programs. Since you already possess a specialized, high-value professional course, so I think repeating an engineering/technical entrance exam to join a lower-tier private college will take you a step backward.

Sorry, but according to me with 96.09 percentile in MHT-CET through PCB, you cannot get admission to ICT for B.Tech Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology. The cuttoff competitively closes around 99.0 to 99.9 percentile.
