Mystory@Deepak Tanwar: How I chose my course and college

Mystory@Deepak Tanwar

When I was in 10th class I scored a very good percentage and my interest for Physics and Maths attracted me towards non-medical stream. Since I had great interest in Physics, I took part in lots of quizzes and activities related to the subject. After I completed my 10th standard, I consulted a pronounced consultant and he helped me define my career direction by advising me to go for the non-medical field.

After class 12, I chose Mechanical Engineering because by that time I had developed a keen interest in machines. I always wanted to learn about different machines, how they functioned, and the principle behind their mechanism. This urge to learn about machines made me choose mechanical engineering.

I appeared for many entrance exams and I got a good rank in them too, but since I didn’t want to go away from my home, I choose a college in Faridabad itself- Echelon Institute of Technology which is affiliated to M.D.U (Maharshi Dayanand University). My college is a renowned institution and delivers quality education to the students. While searching for a good college for graduation, a friend suggested me to consider Echelon Institute of Technology. I visited the college and was impressed with their infrastructure, labs, classrooms and faculty. All this made me sure that this was the college I had been looking for and took admission here.

How I cracked college admission

I started my coaching for AIEEE and IIT right from class 12.

I started my coaching for AIEEE (Now JEE Main) and IIT from Akash institute right from class 12. I appeared for AIEEE and IIT’s entrance exam. I also appeared for other entrance exams of different Universities and colleges, Echelon Institute of Technology being one of them – the institute conducts its own entrance test for admission to the courses offered. The exam was tough to crack, but luckily I was able to clear the same and took admission here.

My college life

My college changed me a lot as a person. Today, I know how to handle stress when there is a lot of work.

I usually spend my time in my classes, but sometimes I bunk my lectures and spend time in cafeteria. My college has a good infrastructure & many hangout places where one can sit and have fun. I also spend my time in the labs examining and operating different machines. I attend all mechanical related classes. I also take part in extracurricular activities. I am a part of a robotics club where we make different types of robots. I am the head of my college's cultural club named Sankalp, and I am responsible for handling all the cultural activities held in my college. I am also the head choreographer of my college’s dance team from past 1 year. If I was given a chance to do anything else in my life, I would have opted for graduation in dance and theaters from Mumbai.

My college changed me a lot as a person. Today, I know how to handle stress when there is a lot of work. I have improved my communication skills immensely, and this has helped greatly in enhancing my confidence. I also came to know about how the corporate world functions, and this has improved my thinking ability. Adding on to all this, my technical skills have improved as I get the opportunity of working on real machinery.
