GATE 2026 Branch-wise Exam Dates: IIT Guwahati has announced the exam dates and shifts for all 30 papers of GATE 2026. The exam was scheduled for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, with two shifts each day. The GATE 2026 exam date branch-wise, is available on this page. On February 15, GATE 2026 exam was held for ECE in shift 1 and AR & DA in shift 2. GATE 2026 February 14 exam was conducted for CE-1, EE, and PI in shift 1 whereas BM, ME, MT, CE-2 paper was held in in shift 2. The authority conducted GATE 2026 for 16 papers on day 1 (February 7) and for 5 subjects on day 2 (February 8). Candidates have to reach the allotted centres as per the reporting time mentioned on their admit cards. Candidates have to carry their admit card and a valid photo ID proof to appear for the exam. Important Information for GATE Aspirants
Students appearing in GATE 2026 must follow the instructions given here
- All GATE papers will include two sections – Maths and General Aptitude beside the subject related section.
- All test papers of GATE 2026 will be of the duration of three hours consisting of 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. After the duration completes, the exam will terminate automatically.
- Candidates will be permitted to occupy their allotted seats 40 minutes before the scheduled start of the examination.
- Candidates can login and start reading the instructions 20 minutes before the start of examination.
- Candidate will NOT be permitted to login after 30 minutes from the scheduled start of the examination. Candidates will NOT be permitted to leave the examination hall before the scheduled end of the examination.
- The exam will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. In MCQs, only one out of four options is correct. In MSQs, one or more than one out of four options is/are correct; and for NAT questions, the answer has to be written using a virtual keypad.

GATE 2026 Answer Key
The GATE answer key 2026 was released on February 22 by IIT Guwahati. Candidates can download the same from the GOAPS login using their registered email ID/enrollment number and password. Along with the answer key, the GATE response sheet and official question papers was also available for download.
Candidates could raise objections in the official GATE answer key if they’re not satisfied with the answers. For this, candidates also had to submit proof supporting their claim/objection of answer key.

GATE 2026 Result Date
IIT Guwahati announced the GATE result 2026 on March 19. The result was released online on the GATE official website. Candidates will have to use the GOAPS portal to check their results. Candidates who qualify for the exam with marks above the cutoff will be issued a GATE scorecard.

For the OBC AI category, the NIT Agartala M.Tech cutoff 2026 ranged from 321 to 488 in the first round.
As per this range, the most competitive M.Tech course specialisation was Artificial Inteligence, with the cutoff being 488. On the other hand, the least competitive branch was Chemical Engineering
