Becoming the confident person that I am now: Stuti Gupta

Like everybody, after doing my 10^th, I was not sure what career option to choose. I wanted to go for CA but Mathematics was a total no-no for me. So, I opted for Commerce without Maths. I chose Multimedia as my fifth subject because computers are my first love. Computers have always been my preference and have a vast scope of knowledge. However, after my 12^th, I was sure that I wanted to go for Hotel Management because I realized that I like meeting new people, going to new places and exploring new destinations. So, here I am in the hospitality business to make myself happy by servicing others.

I chose this college because I had heard a lot about it before. This college offers both theoretical and practical knowledge, which is their USP and this made me curious to find more about it. They also had an internship programme in the second year itself, which made me realize that it would be best suitable for me as I will have better exposure in this industry as compared to other colleges. My teachers encouraged me to do what I thought was right for me and Vedatya Institute came to mind, so I knew I had to work hard and prepare myself to get admission here. Vedatya proved what I imagined it to be, maybe even better. There has not been a single day when I regretted making this choice.

I had joined Studymate, Patel Nagar for preparing for the entrance exams. I thought that this was the best move and I would be prepared better and have more chances of getting an admission in the colleges I wanted to be a part of. Studymate provided an environment that gave students clarity about their career options and what would be the best for them. My college, Vedatya Institute, has 3 rounds for a student to pass to get admission here. The first was an entrance exam, then a group discussion and lastly, a personal interview with the faculty. I think that the faculty was impressed by my communication skills and my confidence but most importantly, my knowledge. I remained calm during all the 3 rounds and that was a major reason for being selected as many students were freaking out and could not answer. The faculty was very friendly and supportive and made me feel comfortable even in a pressure-oriented situation. This was my first entrance exam and luckily, I was selected. I had also applied for NCHMCT, Oberoi STEP, and Christ University. I was selected in NCHMCT in the first round only but I had made up my mind that I wanted to go to Vedatya. My STEP interview also went great but I knew that Vedatya was the place for me. 

I love going to college and spending time with my friends. We have our usual hangout spots where we sit, make memories and have fun. I sometimes go to the library for some light reading or revising some topics. Our college has a strict policy regarding punctuality. This has never been an issue for me as I like attending the classes because they are very interesting. I particularly love to attend the Food and Beverage Service class the most. We get to learn something new every time, that too in a fun way and this makes us more and more inquisitive. You get to learn a lot in every class and I don’t like to miss any of it. I even like to attend the MS-Word and Excel classes taught by Jayant Sir because I love computers and find it a very interesting subject. In college, I am a part of the Photography Club and the Literary Club, and these clubs help students come closer. Our college campus is very big and is full of greenery, which provides us with a lot of beauty and fresh air. My friends and I also love to sit outside on the grass and soak up the sun’s warmth in cold winter days. I would also love to take up photography as my all-time hobby. The college experience has changed me a lot as a person and I am very happy with the change. I got the confidence, which I never had before, and I feel good. I want to make my parents and my teachers proud by highlighting my skills and bringing success to whichever hotel I am a part of.
