Eleven new colleges granted affiliation to Mangalore University

The Mangalore University has added 11 new names on the list of colleges affiliated to it. These 11 new colleges include Anugraha Women's First Grade College (Kushalnagar), Medha College (Puttur), S S Degree College (Kushalnagar), Coorg Institute of Hospitality Sciences (Madikeri), Dr B B Hegde First Grade Evening College (Kundapur) and A J Institute of Speech and Hearing (Mangaluru); among others.

The decision was taken at the recently held meeting of the University’s academic council.

With addition of these new colleges the number of college affiliated to Mangalore University has gone up to 226, out of which 37 are government college, 150 are private colleges, 19 are BE/BPEd colleges, 5 autonomous colleges and 4 constituent colleges.

This year, three colleges applied for permanent affiliation and 36 government colleges applied for the renewal. About 121 private colleges also applied for renewal.

In the meeting, chaired by vice-chancellor K Byrappa, application for fresh affiliation, permanent affiliation along with renewal of affiliation. The members deliberated on various other related issues.

The local inquiry committees had visited the colleges to assess whether they be granted affiliation or not. Their observation was presented in the meeting by Registrar K M Lokesh.

Their observations were based on various factors, like seat intake, infrastructure, staff, library, etc.

Yes, for taking admissions in Mangalore University, it is necessary to take over KCET entrance exams.

This is 2 2-year program. 

Register for KCET after results are out, do participate in KEA counselling and take the seat in the alloted college.
