Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET) 2026 registration has commenced at gmcet.org. Students wanting to get admission to undergraduate courses such as BJMC, BMS, BMC, BMM, and BSc in various media disciplines, and BA at participating universities through GMCET can now fill and submit the GMCET application form. The last date to fill online form has not yet been announced by Global Media Education Council. 

With GMCET, candidates can get admission to participating institutes, such as Presidency University, Monad University, Centurion University, and Shimla University, among others. To get admission, students must fill GMCET 2026 application form and appear for exam in online mode. What is GMCET?

The GLOBAL MEDIA COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (GMCET), which was earlier known as the All India Media Common Entrance Test (AIMCET), is an all-South Asia Global Media Common Entrance Test. Through this exam, candidates get admission to undergraduate media courses. GMCET has a global footprint with institutes & universities from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and many more countries. The exam is powered by edInbox, South Asia’s largest education-focused platform.

GMCET was first time conducted by the Global Media Education Council (GMEC) in 2021. Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET) assesses the students for their communication skills, necessary analytics, and logical reasoning essential for comprehending various scenarios and possible outcomes for a successful career in media.

Candidates can pursue BA-JMC (Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication), BJMC (Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication), BMS (Bachelor of Media Studies), BMC (Bachelor of Mass Communication), BMM (Bachelor of Mass Media), BSc (Animation & Graphics), BSc (Media Technologies), BSc (Film & Television), BSc (VFX Filmmaking), BA (Journalism Hons) and BSc Visual Communication from the participating universities of GMCET.

GMCET Application Process 2026

Candidates who wish to appear for GMCET 2026 will have to follow application process below.

Fill the Application Form

Visit the official Global Media Common Entrance Test website at gmcet.org and click on 'Apply Now'. Provide all the required details and ensure that they are eligible to register for the examination. After the registration, an automated email with a Username and password will be sent to the candidates' registered email ID/Phone Number for future reference.

Note: Candidates will have to fill in the GMCET Application Form 2026 with all the relevant and valid information after making sure that they satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria for the examination. The application form is not available in any other mode.

Pay the Application Fee

Candidates will have to complete the payment by clicking on Pay Now. For the payment of the admission fee, candidates are required to proceed to the payment portal and choose Credit/Debit Card/Net Banking or UPI as per their choice. Candidates have to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 1000/- to be able to take the examination. The candidature of an individual will be confirmed only after the payment of the application fee.

Submit the form

After successful completion, candidates will receive the application form summary on their GMCET profile page as well as on their registered email ID. Candidates will be required to download the application form summary & save it for future reference.

Appear for the GMCET

The Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET) assesses the students for their communication skills and the necessary analytics and logical reasoning essential for comprehending various scenarios and possible outcomes for a successful career in Media. The GMCET 2026 exam will be conducted in online mode. Candidates will be given a time slot to appear for the exam. Candidates are requested to appear at least 15 minutes before the exam time.

Check Result

GMCET results will be available only on the official GMCET 2026 website. Candidates will need to use their user login and password (created during the registration process) to check the result. The hard copy of the GMCET Score Card will not be available and hence, will NOT be sent to the qualified candidates either by post or by email.

GMCET Eligibility Criteria 2026

  • The candidates must have a minimum education qualification of Higher Secondary (10+2) or any equivalent education with a minimum aggregate of 50% for General Category & 45% for SC/ ST/ OBC. OR
  • Candidates should be appearing for Higher Secondary (10+2) or any equivalent education.
  • A candidate with a three or four year diploma, from a university approved by AICTE with a minimum of 50% marks can also apply.

GMCET 2026 Pattern: The GMCET exam duration is one hour. The question paper will include 100 multiple-choice questions. The total GMCET marks are 100. The GMCET question paper checks the student's ability in four sections: Section 1: General knowledge of society, politics, economy, history; Section 2: Brands and Business related basic questions; Section 3: Films, television, radio, entertainment related questions; and Section 4: IQ questions, applied ones.

Students appearing for GMCET exam must know that it is quite simple to crack this. The difficulty level of exam is easy to moderate level, and questions are mostly based on general awareness. GMCET Result 2026

DeskCalendarResult: Aug ' 26

The exam conducting authority declares the result of GMCET on its official website after the exam is conducted. The GMCET Result 2026 will be released tentatively in the first week of August 2026. Candidates who qualify as per the GMCET result can get admission into undergraduate media courses.

The result declared is generated through the Digital Medium, and Enrollment into the course will be subject to further verification of documents. Qualified candidates will have to select their target university/college and fill in the application form after the result declaration. All shortlisted candidates will get a common merit rank (All India Rank).

GMCET Cutoff 2026

The GMCET 2026 cut-off is the minimum mark that candidates need to score to qualify for the exam. The cut-off of GMCET is calculated based on various criteria such as: the total number of students who appeared in the exam, shifts in which the exam was conducted, and the difficulty level of the GMCET exam.

GMCET College Allocation 

Once candidates qualify for the exam as per the result. They will have to fill out an application form to apply their admission into the participating universities and colleges under GMCET. After which, they will be given the college according to their rank.

GMCET Admission Process 2026

Candidates seeking admission to undergraduate media courses offered by the universities stated above have to follow the process:

Step 1: Fill University Application Form

All shortlisted candidates will get a common merit rank (All India Rank). The result declared will be generated through the Digital Medium, and Enrollment into the course will be subject to further verification of documents. Candidates will have to select their target university and fill in the application form. 

Step 2: Book Seat

Candidates will have to complete the admission formalities and pay the course fee to book their seats.

Test Centres: The GMCET 2026 exam will be conducted in July 2026, in online mode. Candidates can appear from their laptops or desktops. Candidates will be given a time slot to appear for the exam. They are requested to appear at least 15 minutes before the beginning of the examination. The test slots for the exam day will be informed a day before the examination on the registered email and mobile number of the candidate.

Q:   How to cover GMCET syllabus in 30 days?
A: 

Although it is not possible to cover the GMCET syllabus in 30 days, it is neither impossible as well. The GMCET syllabus is pretty simple and consists of 4 sections - English language and IQ, General knowledge of news and current affairs, Entertainment media knowledge and Brands and brand communication basic knowledge. To cover these sections candidates need to read newspapers, read magazines pertaining to the current affairs and stay updated with trending topics of atleast the last 6 months. Dedicate atleast 4-5 hours on a daily basis on the exam preparation and give mock tests in between to sharpen the question solving skills.

Q:   Can I change my programme later after selection?
A: 

No, the Global Media Education Council does not allow students to change their programme after selection. Therefore, candidates must check all details of their target courses before applying for GMCET entrance exam.
