The Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET) 2026 syllabus is available on the official website. The GMCET entrance exam conducting body, the Global Media Education Council (GMEC), has released the GMCET syllabus for candidates seeking admission to undergraduate courses offered through the GMCET 2026 exam. The GMCET question paper will consist of four sections, which will be based on English Language & IQ, General Knowledge of News and Current Affairs, Entertainment Media Knowledge, and Brands and Brand Communication Basic Knowledge. The exam will include 25 multiple-choice questions per section.

To prepare for the GMCET 2026 exam, candidates are advised to check the GMCET UG 2026 syllabus. Candidates can go through the GMCET syllabus to learn important topics covered. The GMCET 2026 exam will be tentatively conducted in the last week of July 2026, in online mode. The registration process for the same is expected to begin in the first week of September 2025.

The GMCET test will be conducted in online mode and candidates will be able to attempt them at their personal laptop or desktop from their home.

Q:   Is there negative marking in GMCET exam?

No, there is no negative marking for any wrong answer attempted by the candidates in the Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET). As per the exam pattern of the GMCET, the objective type/ MCQs will carry no minus marking. There will be 100 questions asked in the examination and each question will carry 1 mark each. If candidates give a wrong answer no marks will deducted and it will happen if they skip the question.

Q:   Who is eligible for GMCET exam 2026?

To be eligible to appear for the GMCET entrance exam, candidates must ensure they fulfill the following GMCET eligibility criteria:

  • Candidates must have a minimum education qualification of Higher Secondary (10+2) or any equivalent education with a minimum aggregate of 50% for the General Category & 45% for SC/ST/OBC. OR
  • Candidates should be appearing for Higher Secondary (10+2) or any equivalent education.
  • A candidate with a three or four-year diploma, from a recognised university approved by AICTE with a minimum of 50% marks can also apply.

Q:   What are the subjects in the GMCET syllabus?

There are a total of 4 subjects in the GMCET exam. The 4 subjects are - English language and IQ, General knowledge of news and current affairs, Entertainment media knowledge and Brands and brand communication basic knowledge. Candidates need to focus on these topics and read the study materials covering these topics.

Q:   I am awaiting my result. Can I apply for the GMCET exam?

Definitely, candidates who are awaiting their results are also eligible to apply. However, in case they qualify for the exam and are selected for the document verification they will have to present their qualification certificates to the authorities before the last date of the admission process. In case they fail to do so, their candidature will be rejected. As per the official notification of GMCET, candidates will have to submit a minimum education qualification of certificate of Higher Secondary (10+2) or any equivalent Education with a minimum aggregate of 50% for the General Category & 45% for SC/ST/OBC or should be appearing for the same in 2026.

No, there won't be any essay-type questions in the GMCET examination. The question paper of the Global Media Common Entrance Test (GMCET) will have questions that will be objective type. Like every year, there will not be any essay-type questions in the entrance exam. All the questions will be objective/MCQ type and there will be 100 questions of 1 mark each to be attempted in 60 minutes.

The admit card of GMCET will be sent to the candidates one day prior to the exam on their registered email address and mobile number.

Q:   When the interviews will be conducted?

Unlike other entrance examinations, there are no interviews for the Global Media Common Entrance Test  (GMCET) exam. The admisison process of the Global Media Common Entrance Test consists of registration, filling out the application form, appearing for the examination, and qualifying it. As per their result, candidates will be given an AIR ranking and as per the ranking these qualified candidates will have to appear for the document verification process and submit the fee of the college/university they have been allotted.
