XIC OET 2023 registration will commence tentatively in first week of April 2023. Candidates seeking admission to PG Diploma courses offered by the Xavier Institute of Communications must fill in the application form in online mode when released. Candidates must ensure to fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria before filling the application form. XIC OET 2023 important dates will be announced with the release of the application forms.

What is XIC OET?

The Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC) conducts the Online Entrance Test (OET) to offer admissions to eligible candidates in mass communication courses available at the varsity. Candidates can apply for admission in various postgraduate diploma and certificate courses offered at the college. On the basis of an aspirant’s performance in Xavier Institute of Communications Online Entrance Test (XIC OET), the candidate can secure admission in the below mentioned Diploma courses:

Advanced Integrated Communication Programme (AICP) Journalism & Mass Communication
Advertising & Marketing Communication Public Relations & Corporate Communication
Film, Television & Digital Video Production Event Planning & Experiential Marketing

XIC OET 2023 Application Process

Candidates who wish to appear for the XIC OET 2023 will have to follow the below-mentioned admission process.

Step 1: Registration

Candidates will have to register themselves by clicking on the 'register' on the official website of the university in order to fill in the application form. Candidates are advised to ensure that they keep a scanned copy of a recent passport-size photograph of themselves ready for uploading before filling in the online registration form. The candidates will have to enter the following details: 

  • Name
  • Mobile Number
  • Email ID
  • Course Interested In
  • Captcha Number 

After submitting the details, candidates will receive a login ID and password which they can use to log in, in order to avail the XIC OET application forms.

Step 2: Fill XIC OET Application Form

Candidates will have to fill the online application forms. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before filling and submitting the application forms. Candidates will have to pay their XIC OET 2023 application fee online by using their Bank DEBIT / CREDIT Cards / Net banking / UPI. XIC OET application fee is INR 3,500. for the AICP course the application fee is INR 2,500.

Note: As part of the Registration Process, candidates will have to provide their Statement of Purpose (SOP). If they qualify for the Personal Interview stage, it could be brought up for discussion. Hence, candidates are advised to give sufficient thought while putting their SOP together.

Step 3: Select date and centre

After completing the payment procedure candidates will have to select their OET date and personal interview centre.

Note: FAILURE to upload SCANNED PHOTOGRAPH or provide proper details, will not allow candidate to proceed further.

Step 4: Download XIC OET Admit Card

The XIC OET 2023 admit card will be sent to candidates on the E-mail ID mentioned in their registration form. Candidate are advised to check their Junk/Spam Email Folders in case they do not receive the admit card after the registration procedure. Candidates will have to preserve their admit card carefully as only this document will be accepted in all further transactions between a candidate and XIC.

Step 5: Appear for XIC OET

Candidates will have to appear for the Xavier Institute of Communications Online Entrance Test at their preferred date. XIC OET is of 90 minutes duration and consists of both objective as well as subjective type questions. XIC OET 2023 entrance exam may held on Second week of May 2023.

XIC OET Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the courses offered at XIC are given below:

Eligibility for other courses

A candidate is eligible to register for the OET if he/she meet the requirements mentioned below:

  • You are 35 years or below in age.
  • You have completed 3 years of Graduation (12+3 years) in a University approved stream in India: (Arts, Commerce, Science, Computers, BMM, BMS, BE, Catering, etc….)
    OR
  • You are appearing for your last semester or Third year Graduation in the present Academic year.

Note: In this last case, should a candidate be selected for the XIC Course of their choice, and successfully complete it in keeping with the Academic, Attendance and other standards laid down by XIC, the Diploma will be awarded only on completion of their Graduation and on submission of the relevant attested Final mark-sheet of their graduation.

Eligibility for Advanced Integrated Communication Programme AICP

  • A Graduate in any discipline and Work experience of 2 years in a non-staff function (executive or supervisory function desired).
  • Organizational sponsorship for this program preferred, however a letter from the organization shall be required stating that they are aware of your joining this course.

XIC OET 2023 Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission to Xavier Institute of Communications will have to follow the process as under:

Step 1: Appear for Personal Interview

Based on a candidate's score in the online test and subjective paper, they will be called for the personal interview. The interview will be held online. The venue and time will be intimated via email. As per the official website personal interview (PI) were conducted at below mentioned dates:

Step 2: Check XIC OET Result

Selections will be based on candidate's scores in the online test, subjective paper and the personal interview. Aspirants can check their XIC OET 2023 result on the official website of Xavier Institute of Communications.

XIC OET 2023 Syllabus

The Xavier Institute of Communications has not specified any detailed syllabus for the entrance exam, however as per the official website Objective section of the exam will consist of questions based on Language Skills, General Knowledge and Knowledge of Media, Logical and Analytical skills. Whereas the questions in Subjective section will be media related in order to assess creativity, social values, writing skills, etc of the candidates. Some questions will also be related to the Course a candidate is applying for. XIC OET 2023 Pattern

Candidates will have to appear for XIC OET and those qualifying the exam will be shortlisted for personal interview round. The XIC OET 2023 pattern will be such that aspirants will have to attempt multiple choice questions in 60 minutes and subjective questions in 30 minutes duration. The password and login details will be emailed to candidates 10 minutes prior to the test. Candidates will be advised to check their SPAM/JUNK folder in case they do not receive the email in their Inbox. Candidates will have to login and start the test immediately on receiving the login information. The pattern for the test is given below:

Note: In the subjective section, candidates will have to type answers in proper English language. Any answer containing short forms or SMS language were bound to be rejected.

While preparing for XIC OET, it is important for candidates to have a plan in mind. This is how candidates should plan their exam preparation

  • Have a proper preparation strategy in place
  • Know exam pattern thoroughly and go through sample papers and syllabus.
  • Pick the best journalism test books to prepare.
  • The aim should be to score well in entrance exam
  • Focus on your time management skills and improving speed of answering questions based on English and General Knowledge.
  • Solve as many sample papers and previous years' question papers as possible to know your strong and weak areas for the exam.
  • Practice writing an essay to enhance your writing skills

A. The application process for XIC OET 2023 may be started from first week of April 2023.

Q. How many sections are there in the XIC OET?

A. It has two sections: Objective and Subjective. Candidates will be given separate time to complete both the sections. Candidates have to complete the objective section in 60 mins, whereas for subjective part they would be given 30 mins.  

Q. I am still awaiting my bachelor’s results, can I apply for the XIC OET?

A. Yes. Candidates awaiting their results can apply for the exam but the student needs to have all their mark sheets and should provide the certificate before the classes commence.

Q. Does Xavier Institute of Communications offer postgraduate courses?

A. The Xavier Institute of Communications offers students admission in regular postgraduate diploma courses. The duration of each diploma course varies accordingly.

Q. Is an interview conducted after the XIC OET?

A. Yes, only candidates who qualify the exam, are called for personal interview. 

Q. Can I write the XIC OET in Hindi?

A. No. The candidate has to give the exam in English only.

Q. What is the application fee for XIC OET?

A. The application fee for XIC OET is INR 3,500, which candidates have to pay online. Although, the application fee for AICP course is INR 2,500.

A. XIC OET is a national level entrance exam conducted by the Xavier Institute of Communications. The mass communication exam is conducted once a year.

A. Yes, aspirants need to clear the XIC OET to be eligible for admission in mass communication courses offered at Xavier Institute of Communications. Once, aspirants clear exam, they need to appear for Personal Interview round as conducted online or at the college.
