IIMC Entrance Exam 2016: Paper Analysis & Student Feedback
IIMC entrance exam was conducted on May 29, 2016. Entrance Exam for all the courses offered at Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) was held on the same day within a gap of one hour each. Only the entrance exam for Odia Journalism is scheduled to be held at a later date, that is, May 30, 2016.

Shiksha is present at a test centre in R.K. Puram where 691 students took IIMC entrance exam for admissions in PG Diploma in Journalism course offered at the six campuses of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). Other than that, 500 students appeared for the entrance exam conducted for Radio & TV Journalism and another 700 took the test for Advertising and PR course admissions.

Student Feedback for IIMC Entrance Exam for Journalism Course
Students gave mixed responses for PG PG Diploma in Journalism entrance exam conducted by IIMC. While many students found the IIMC journalism English/ Hindi entrance exam difficult, others shared that they found the exam to be easy as they read newspapers on a daily basis.
Talking about the exam pattern for IIMC journalism (English/Hindi) entrance exam, most students felt that it was a little different from last year as there were not many choices given between questions.
Apart from that, most of the questions in the exam were based on current affairs especially in the political arena.

Majority of the students shared that the paper for Radio and TV Journalism course admissions was easier as compared to PG Diploma in Journalism exam.
In this entrance exam also, most of the questions were from current affairs and students were able to complete the paper before time. Students revealed that the test pattern was similar to last year’s paper.
Contrary to popular belief, a student of Maharaja Agrasen College, Ragini said, “Paper pattern for radio and TV journalism entrance exam was different than last year’s paper". Elaborating further, she said, "Last year, questions were focused more on TV and radio journalism but this year questions were general, mostly related to current affairs.”

Common consensus regarding the PG Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations entrance exam was that the paper was easy and tested the creativity of candidates.
Talking about the exam pattern, students had differing opinions. While some students felt the paper was similar to last year’s exam, others shared that the paper was lengthy.

IIMC Entrance Exam for Journalism Course: Exam Analysis
The test pattern for IIMC Entrance Exam 2016 for admissions in Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism course was slightly different from past years’ papers of the test. In previous years’ papers, candidates were given choices in almost every question and thus, they could choose the question they wished to attempt. But this year, candidates had to attempt all the questions.
IIMC Entrance Exam 2016 for Journalism course consisted of five questions and maximum marks that aspirants could score in the exam was 85.
For each question, candidates were given a word limit which they had to adhere to. Instructions on the exam paper stated: “Word limits indicated are the maximum. You can write less than that but do not exceed”.
Most of the questions asked in the paper were on the political happenings in the country since December 2015.
IIMC Entrance Exam for Radio & TV Journalism Course: Exam Analysis
The entrance test for admissions in PG Diploma in Radio and TV Journalism was easier as compared to the Journalism course entrance exam.
Most of the questions asked in the paper were on television journalism and anyone who follows news channels regularly wouldn’t have faced any difficulty in solving the paper.
The test paper comprised of five questions which aspirants had to attempt in two hours duration. Only subjective questions were asked in the paper and ample choice was given. Maximum word limit of the questions asked was between 150 words to 250 words.
IIMC Entrance Exam for Advertising & PR Course: Exam Analysis
Entrance test conducted for admissions in PG Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations at different IIMC colleges comprised of five questions and there were choices given in each question.
The maximum marks that one could score in this IIMC entrance exam was 85 and the duration of the test was two hours.
IIMC entrance exam for Advertising and PR course admissions was more of a creative test in which aspirants had to pen down write-ups of 300 words in each question. Other than that, the test pattern was such that the creative aptitude of an aspirant was tested and there were no technical questions as such.
On the basis of an aspirant’s performance in IIMC Entrance Exam, he/she is shortlisted to appear for the Group Discussion/Interview round. Candidates who clear this admission round are then offered admission in different IIMC campuses.
