IIFT exam 2019-2020 student reactions and reviews - Since the exam pattern and marking scheme has changed this year, most of the candidates coming out of the exam centre has mixed reaction to the question paper. Shiksha spoke to a few test takers to know how was the new IIFT exam. Most of them were of the opinion that despite change in the pattern, the difficulty level of IIFT 2019-2020 exam was same as last year. Take a look below to know IIFT 2019-2020 student reactions.
Arpit Singh from G L Bajaj College said, “paper level was moderate and GK was easy. English was tough and DILR was little tough. Quant section was difficult and since it has negative marking so I attempted 12 questions in each section. I expect above 100-120 marks.“
Arshi from Delhi said, “I believe the IIFT question paper was easy. The general awareness section is one which you cannot prepare one hour before so essentially there were very common topics in GA as well. Apart from that, quant had some very lengthy and some very easy questions, you had to pick those questions. DI was very easy, you did not had to invest a lot of time, they were very calculation intensive however, they were attemptable. I attempted 23 in English, 9 in Quant, 10 in DILR and 10 in GA. The exam pattern and marking scheme has changed so I cannot say anything regarding the cut off. I would say for someone who has decently prepared well for the exam will be able to clear the paper.”
Devyansh from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management studies, IP University said, “IIFT exam was on a difficult side. There were 20 questions in GK, 35 in DILR, 25 in English and 20 in Maths. Maths was on the difficult side, GK was ok, English was also ok. In DILR also some sets were difficult, and some were easy, so overall it was moderate.”
“It was my second attempt. Comparatively previous year was easier and this time it was difficult and there were a lot of changes as well this was it was online exam so changes were there. Last year there were six sections and this time it was four,” he added.

Pratham Jain said, “Overall paper was good and logical reasoning part was a little difficult and DI section was little bit lengthy, General Awareness section was ok and English was also ok. It was my first attempt. It was pretty much according to my expectations, not so difficult paper. I attempted 50 questions. I think the expected cut should be from 110-120.”
Utsav from VIT Vellore said, “I appeared for IIFT exam and I found the verbal section comparatively easier than the previous year and even from CAT 2019. The RC was comparatively shorter and even the VA was easier. I found Quant was little difficult comparatively to the last year’s papers and DILR was of the same level like CAT this year.
“One thing I liked about this year’s exam pattern. There was standardized scoring, it was +3, -1 for the main section like for the Verbal, LI and quants and the GK was +1.5 and -0.5 so that was pretty standardized and I found the scrolling was an issue when we talk of the interface so scoring was not so convenient otherwise it was well. I think 35 marks should be the approximate cut off. Overall this year the paper was little easier but some sections were easier and some were tough like verbal.”

Arpit from Pune said, “I think the overall difficulty level of IIFT was quite moderate in terms of the DILR. It was not difficult but not easy as well. It was somewhere in between. The general awareness paper was relatively easier, the VARC section was also easier and the quant section I would say was a bit between moderate to difficult.”
“Since the marking scheme of IIFT exam has changed so I would not comment on the cut off or something like that but if I compare it with the previous paper, it was almost the same. I attempted the most questions from VARC section. VARC section was easier, the questions were relatively easier,” He added.
Shubham said, “The IIFT paper was somewhat moderate and it consisted of four sections only. First section was DILR, second one was Quant, third one was VARC and fourth one was GK, which was relatively tougher I think. Quant was tough, VARC and DILR were moderate and if I talk of the cut off, it will be something around 150. The question paper was of 300 marks paper. Last year it was six sections, this year it was four sections; RC was clubbed with VA and LR with DI so there were four sections and if I talk of comparison, there was not so different between last and this year’s paper. I am satisfied with the paper and if I talk of the marking scheme also, last time it was 0.75 for one section and 0.5 for some other section but this time it was 3 marks for QA, DILR, VARC and 1 mark for GK.
Avijit from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology said, “In my view the paper was easier than last year and there were four sections and Quant was easy it was doable in 45 minutes and VARC was also easier and I think GK was to be prepared throughout the year so, I cannot say much about that. LR was tougher this year and I think 7-8 sets of questions of LR were tougher to clear the cut off. Overall the paper was easy definitely, last year there were six sections and this time it was four sections. See the papers were of 300 marks not 100 like last year so the cut off would be around 110-150.”
