MBA needs CARE

Continuous Learning is the key to one’s development and in this fast-changing environment, it is essential to upskill yourself in a structured and practical approach. While shortlisting colleges to which I can apply for pursuing an MBA, I was looking for an institute that provides CARE (Career growth, Alumni network, Relationship building and Education). The one-year Global MBA (GMBA) at SP Jain School of Global Management(SPJSGM) offers you the right balance between opportunities and experiences through its unique tri-city model. Every cohort pursues one semester in Singapore, Sydney & Dubai helping the candidate to obtain a global outlook towards business practices.

C-areer Growth

Having worked as a Software Developer for 3.5 years, I was looking for a new opportunity in technology management to progress in my career path. GMBA at SPJSGM helps its students through its Professional Readiness Programme (PRP) which includes Resume & CV workshop, Communication & Leadership sessions, Case in Point workshops, building a Personal Brand and Mock Interview sessions to name a few. These sessions build confidence and help the students to be prepared for their campus interviews. The Global Immersion Projects (GIP) in each semester helps students to work on a live industry project and help their clients make important business decisions. This helps the students to gain insight into the kind of work they would do in their career post their MBA.

Currently, I work as a Senior Associate at PwC India and my campus recruitment is in line with my expectations for my career growth. In times of Covid, the Corporate Relations (CR) team at SPJSGM has ensured that opportunities arrive with the industry-standard compensation as desired by the students.

A-lumni Network

The strength of an institute is measured by the performance of its alumni. SPJSGM has been recognised with various world rankings owing to its successful global alumni network. The alumni hold various leadership positions and also promote entrepreneurship. SPJSGM holds Alumni Mixer events on campus where students get to interact with the alumni, learn from their experience and build relationships. The alumni are extremely patient in addressing the queries during these sessions and also guide the students through their MBA journey. As part of the PRP programme, the Alumni also conducts mock interviews with the students to prepare and provide feedback on their Resumes and Interviews.

R-elationship Building

Relationships help an individual to grow not only in their professional career but also in their personal lives. The Global Learning activities at SPJSGM which include networking sessions, workshops, industry visits and extra-curricular activities to name a few help the students to build relationships among themselves, with the eminent faculties, industry experts and the local crowd of that country. Be it the South Asian Culture in Singapore, the Western and Aboriginal Culture at Sydney or the Emirati Culture in Dubai, students are able to imbibe the local culture and gain business acumen in that region.

The interactions with the alumni, industry mentors as part of the GIP or the visiting faculty provide a great networking opportunity for students to build relationships that are valued over a long time. During our programme, we visited Dell EMC, Nas Daily, Asia Pacific Brewery, Australian Computer Society & Prime Practice as part of our industry visits. SPJSGM also hosts industry experts who visit the college and share their knowledge with us.

E-ducation

Education is the foundational element of any MBA degree. SPJSGM has a structured credit-based teaching methodology, where the visiting faculties who are experts in their field impart knowledge and challenge the student’s thinking. The student board rooms (SBR) help students to work in a cross-cultural environment where the team analyses various scenarios, hold discussions and present solutions to a given problem.

The curriculum is focused on educating students in the field of Marketing, Supply Chain & Logistics, Finance, Consulting and Technology management. Special courses which are relevant to the current times are also provided as ad-hoc courses for students to learn and upskill themselves for the corporate environment.

The GMBA at SPJSGM helps in the all-round development of one’s personality, knowledge and inculcates a sense of confidence within the student to take on any challenge in one’s career and life. The relationship of a student with SPJSGM does not end with the course, in fact builds even further with new opportunities and learnings. Personally, I have had a great learning experience with SPJSGM where I met new people, built new career and relationships that last forever.

Looking at the past years' trends, the SP JAT exam is usually considered moderate in terms of the difficulty level. The SPJAT exam is a management entrance exam which is easier than the other MBA exams such as CAT, XAT, CMAT, etc.

If we talk about Cutoffs, SP Jain is much easier to crack than the to IIMs that compete with it. Because if you want to have a call from old IIMs then you have to get 99+ percentile. On the other hand, for SP Jain you can get the call at even 85 percentile.
