I want the college to reopen so that I can attend the classes on campus, says Swetanjali Meher

Since I was in Bangalore and could not go to Jaipur for group discussion and personal interview rounds, the college sent me an online case to be resolved in 20 minutes. After qualifying for the first round of the case study, I virtually gave my PI round. By clearing all the rounds, I submitted my documents and fees for the first term and finally got admission.
I was not a very bright student from the beginning. So, I was always determined to choose Commerce as my stream in XI and XII class. Since my father also belonged to the Commerce background, I had an interest in it from childhood. This was another reason for me to choose Commerce. After schooling, I did B.com from Bangalore University and decided to pursue my Masters.
Though I didn’t perform well in my first attempt at CAT entrance exam held in 2019, I decided to give it another try. In my second attempt, I had only a few colleges to choose from. One of them was the Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur. I chose the Jaipuria Institute of Management after connecting with a few students and alumni via a social platform. I received positive comments about its placements, faculty and hostel facilities. The overall response for Jaipuria was good. In fact, it was far better than other colleges on my list. Jaipuria offers two courses PGDM and PGDM SM. I opted for PGDM because I wasn’t sure about which specialization to choose. The PGDM curriculum includes subjects like Finance, Operations, Human Resource, etc., in the first year. The students choose their specialization in the second year. Jaipuria conducts an Individual Development Program in which an industry expert helps and guides students in selecting their specialization according to their past academics, current interest and personality.
I did not take any coaching classes for any entrance exam. Though I referred to the study material provided by TIME Institute. I appeared for CAT and CMAT entrance exams. My score was not enough to be eligible for 1st and 2nd tier colleges for admission. I am quite weak in Mathematics and this was one of the reasons for my low scores. I also applied for admission to ITM Navi Mumbai, Woxsen School of Business Hyderabad, Welingkar (both Mumbai & Bangalore) and Goa Institute of Management. I got the admission at ITM Navi Mumbai and Woxsen School of Business, Hyderabad but I decided to go with Jaipuria Institute of Management. I came across Jaipuria after searching a few websites. I applied at Jaipuria after paying an application fee of Rs 750/-.
Due to COVID- 19, I have not got the chance to visit our campus at Jaipur yet. The classes are being conducted online via Zoom. The classes start in the morning at 9 and every student is given a login ID for Moodle. Moodle is a website that provides information to students regarding curriculum, attendance, time table, quiz, discussion forums etc. The link to join the class is given on Moodle. Each lecture is for 1 hour 30 minutes and then a 30 minutes break before the next lecture. Classes go on till 5.30 in the evening. Apart from academics, various webinars and activities are conducted by different clubs and committees of the college. In the first term, I loved subjects like Fundamentals of Marketing, Organizational Behavior, Data Analysis (Excel) and Managerial Economics. In the second term, I liked Marketing Management, Operations Management, and Professional Spoken communication classes.
Currently, I am a member of Alumni Relation Committee. A student can apply to any three committees of his choice. After clearing the personal interview round with the Head of the committee, a student becomes a member of that committee. Recently our college conducted its national youth fest E-Abhyudaya. I worked as a member of the back end office in the event. Moreover, I have participated in intra college competitions like BOP( Business Orientation Project), Marketing Campaign and Hero Challenge. I have also hosted a few webinars and talk shows conducted by the college.
Right now, I want the college to reopen so that I can visit the campus and attend the classes. I wish to participate in the extracurricular activities physically and not through zoom. I would love to go on an industrial tour to gain practical experience.
