I got to know myself better at Asia-Pacific Institute of Management: Twinkle Batra
I did my BTech from Echelon Institute of Technology, Faridabad and got an opportunity to work with HCL. I worked there for 15 months and then suddenly this feeling of being lost struck me. I think many people experience this feeling or phase whatever you want to call it, but then I decided to look at it in a constructive way, and my analysis of that situation led me on a journey of self-assessment. I came the realization that I was not compatible with the technical aspects of my job, and also that somewhere I was not corporate ready. All of that eventually led me to the PGDM programme at Asia-Pacific Institute of Management (AIM), Jasola, New Delhi.
Why AIM
While exploring PGDM colleges on the internet, I came across some good reviews about this management institute. I was very much concerned about the ranking of the institute and I explored a lot regarding the same.
Every year several websites, newspapers and magazines release B-School rankings according to their performances. I extensively visited websites of various Indian management institutes. I studied the parameters like unique teaching pedagogy, code of conduct, industry-vetted and updated curriculum, faculty, placement, infrastructure and alumni on which institutes are awarded rankings.
I started getting positive signals that the programme offered by AIM will definitely help me get out of the ‘depressing’ zone I had gone into, and equip me with skills to help me achieve my desired goals.
Being a Delhiite, I was very much crazy about the crowd because I feel that college crowd seem to have a much bigger effect on students itself.
Compatibility with Faculty
Faculty members at AIM are warm, caring, enthusiastic and accessible.
My memories at AIM are incised in my mind yet I am falling short of words to express my sincere thanks to all faculty members. All faculty members at AIM are amazing. I enjoyed the way they respect ideas and opinions of all students in the classroom. Due to this I felt safe in expressing my feelings and even learnt to respect and listen to others. This mutual respect in classroom provides a supportive and collaborative environment.
Faculty members are very approachable. In fact, you can even go and share your personal problems with them, and they will do their best to help you.
I believe that I am very fortunate to have been taught by some of the best professors I have ever known. I shall always remain highly thankful to all of my faculties and especially Mrs. Ritu Gupta, Dr. Reema Chaudhary and Dr. Sonia Munjal for inspiring me and making me push my own boundaries.
Personality Development
AIM faculties regularly organize group discussions and debates in their classes and ensure that each and every student contributes. They usually assign topics based on your concentration and overall interests. So, I ended up participating in lots of debates, quiz programmes and also hosting numerous fests, events, seminars and conferences in my campus. All these efforts instilled leadership qualities and confidence in me and made me a good communicator too.
Psychometric tests
Psychometric tests include aptitude test, skills test and personality tests. The tests helped me evaluate my intelligence level, aptitude and personality, as well as how I will handle pressure. The tests introduced proven to be a reliable indicators of future job performance.
During the placement sessions, the interviewers, with the help of these tests, assess our capabilities, aptitude for the job, and determine whether our personalities fit in with the organization's vision or not.
So, regular psychometric tests practice sessions helped me to make my recruitment process more efficient.
Words of Wisdom
A strong, positive self-image is the best possible preparation for success.
The more confident you feel, the better you feel about the task assigned to you and your ability to do it.
In 2015, I had to face a dicey situation wherein I had to make a tough choice; either to continue with my Job at HCL or join AIM. I followed my gut feeling and chose to do a PGDM here at AIM. And now, I am very glad with my selection as Management Trainee at Ceasefire.
