Online lectures are way more convenient as compared to traditional classroom lectures: Abhishek, WeSchool

These are first-hand student accounts on how our young population is managing to keep their exam prep or college course work going from the confines of their homes. In case you want to share your lockdown study experience, write to us at publish@shiksha.com.

When it comes to my college, online lectures are being conducted as per the schedule originally decided i.e. before the lockdown was imposed in March third week. And when compared to the traditional classroom lectures, these online lectures seem to be way more convenient since we students can attend the lectures within the very comforts of our homes. The same applies to the professors who are more than happy to deliver the lectures without facing the hassles of commuting. Though we students do miss the peculiarity and the feel of a typical classroom and in-person interactions with peers and faculties, no compromise is done on the learning at all.

Even the doubts are solved in an efficient manner without any sort of major inconvenience been created so far. The professors also ensure they are approachable most of the time by addressing students’ queries as soon as possible.

Even though some inconvenience was caused in the first few days in terms of scheduling and the syllabus content to be delivered, the lectures’ frequency is kept the same as formulated during the Teaching-Learning Plan (TLP) at the start of our trimester. And yes, they are sufficient enough to cover the designated syllabus for every subject.

We have been allotted various assignments and projects as stated in the TLP to learn the subjects and topics in a much better manner. The number of submissions varies depending upon the subjects and their significance; for example, the Marketing based subjects consist of multiple assignments and projects; to be made individually as well as in a group as instructed in a time-bound manner; the attendance criterion remaining the same as before.

The practical part, unfortunately, could not be covered as planned in the TLP. However, the professors have done their best to provide as much reading materials as possible to ensure we have a pretty good command over any particular subject. This includes giving information to do some credible online certification courses from platforms such as LinkedIn, Coursera, edX, etc. The college library has already given the students remote access to its resources, which have proved to be, time and again, of immense help to us not only in our academic learning but also in equipping the students with industrial information.

Apart from the academic stuff, the college always encourages students to wholeheartedly participate in various college competitions, write research papers, commit to social work, among others.

CAT is not compulsory for admission to MBA. Welingkar Mumbai also considers scores in MAT, CMAT, ATMA, etc. Aspirants with scores in any of the accepted entrance tests can get admission.
