Aayushi Pandey shares the complete list of eligibility criteria for sitting in IMI Bhubaneswar Placements 2019-20. She also points out that the criteria is bound to vary according to the companies conducting recruitment drives both on-campus and off-campus.

The eligibility criteria to sit in the placement process usually varies across different institutions. At IMI Bhubaneswar, we have strict policies when it comes to eligibility for sitting in placement drives and there is no compromise on these guidelines.

Here are the criteria that students must meet to sit for Placements and violation of which may lead to candidate’s exclusion from the impending campus drives:

  1. Course Duration: Our institute follows trimester system. So over two years’ period we have six trimesters — first three trimesters are in first year, followed by a two-month break for Summer Internship and three trimesters take place in second year. Students can’t afford to miss any of these trimesters in order to be eligible for sitting in the placement process.
  2. Attendance: In all the trimesters overall, it is mandatory for students to maintain 90 per cent attendance in every trimester. However, in unavoidable circumstances, there can be some flexibility offered to the students, at the discretion of Chairperson Programme Head.
  3. CGPA/Grades: Students need to maintain a certain CGPA as prescribed by the curriculum to sit for the placement process. Generally, the range is from 4.50-5.00 on a scale of 10.00, to be able to sit in the placement process. The range can vary from year to year and institute to institute.
  4. Backlogs in exams: Backlogs in any of the subjects from the previous trimesters can be an obstacle for any candidate aiming to sit for the placement drives for some of the top companies. The company or the college itself usually stipulates this criterion.
  5. Internships: Summer internship of minimum six weeks is necessary and the college makes it mandatory to obtain the certificate for the same on the company’s letterhead, from where you did your internship.
  6. Code of conduct: Highest level of code of conduct, integrity and confidentiality is expected out of students throughout the placement process. Any violation of the same can lead to barring from the remaining process.
  7. Past Academic Performance: Apart from ones mentioned above, many companies also set minimum percentage requirement. For sitting in placements, students should have obtained minimum 60 per cent or above throughout their academic career. As well as they also specify what should be the current CGPA of the student, it may be 60% or above 7.00/10.00 CGPA.

However, these are just the few basic criteria that are followed by most management colleges, with a little bit stringent or flexible approach. The important thing to understand here is that the placement eligibility criteria differs from company to company that visits the campus. Therefore, whether a student is eligible for sitting in the interview process of the company or not, is usually decided as per the visiting company’s norms.
