Students’ Speak: Role placement cells plays in making MBA students industry-ready

Placement training cells are an important part of any student's life. These cells help students to remain motivated through the means of counseling that boosts their morale.

Students are also informed and advised on the importance of maintaining good academic scores as well as other extracurricular activities such as sports, inter-college competitions and other club events held within the college. These co-curricular activities play a major role in the resume and during the recruitment process as well.

Organisations, today, want to employ students with highly improvised techniques during the recruitment process to ensure that everybody is highly qualified. The placement cell in such a scenario recognizes these techniques by interacting with a human resource manager of a particular industry and prepares each and every student to make them industry-ready.

The Placement Cell of Thiagarajar School of Management (TSM) works to ensure that the recruitment process is successful for all the students as they aim for a 100 percent placement record every year. It lays high importance on technical and non-technical pre-placement training, which prepares students to excel in both summer internship and in the final interviews of the recruitment processes. The faculties of TSM also help students improve their academic scores through a series of programmes, conferences and workshops.

Our college conducts mock group discussions for the practice of the students to get trained well in the final process. Many workshops on a series are conducted before the recruitment. Students are trained to develop their skills to handle interviews in the best possible manner. In addition, the placement cell also takes up activities that improve students’ communication and presentation skills.

Specific technical and non-technical pre-placement training is conducted for the students of TSM to handle stress interviews and recruitment processes, and emerge as a successful brand of TSM in the organization. Pre-placement time can be quite confusing for the students because they are not experienced in handling interviews and placement methods which leads to loss of self-esteem. In order to crack an interview, one needs to have a confident body language. During the pre-placement training, the candidates/students are made to realise their positives first. The second thing our college focuses on is the areas in which each student is best at.

Placement cell of Thiagarajar School of Management aims at making students industry-ready personalities with practical applications along with regular academics. Participants are given a platform to visualise both academic and theoretical concepts through practical examples and market surveys. Students of TSM are trained for placements from the time they set foot in the institution to communicate professionally, both in written and oral.

Students of TSM are indulged in many live projects right from the first year itself which helps them connect both on the academic side as well as with the recent market trend.
