Students’ Speak: Try these tips to sail through placement season
Having a conversation with your seniors will tell you about their success as well as failure stories which will help you to improve and make a better decision while choosing companies.
Tips for Placements
- Be confident.
- Research about the company. Study its financials and learn about its work culture.
- Maintain casual eye contact with the interviewer.
- Be prepared with up to four questions about the company to show your knowledge.
- The casual look won’t work. Get a shave, wear formal clothes and polish shoes, etc.
- Don’t lie about your achievements.
- Think like you are having an interactive conversation with the person you will feel less nervous.
- Be prepared with questions like tell me something about yourself, why should we hire you, strengths and weakness, about your internship.
- Prepare your answers in front of the mirror, which will help you to improve your expressions.
- Have a mock interview with your teachers or friends.
- Record that interview and improve on your mistakes.
- Be prepare with last year's repeated questions.
- Never let your interview show that you are nervous.
- Don’t demean yourself.
- Never think that you are incapable of doing something.
- Always be ready with Plan B.
- Whenever you have negative thoughts talk to your parents, friend’s teachers.
- Prepare your priority list.
- Most importantly, don’t pretend, be yourself.
Many of the students also get disappointed about the rejections. I would suggest that never let rejections affect you and your other opportunities. Learn from your rejections and keep on trying again and again. Keep trusting yourself and one day your hard work will surely pay off.
During placements, you will all face the situation, when your friends will get placed. At that point, don’t think that you are less than anyone. Something better is waiting for you and one day your day will come and you will shine. That would be your D-Day. Wait for your day.
