This course has significantly honed my communication and business-related skills: Abhishek Desai
During my school days itself, I had decided to take up my stream as science and pursue engineering. Though that wish didn’t materialize, I still ensured to pursue my graduation in Information Technology from a good college like Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Wadala. After finishing my graduation, I bagged a job in HERE Technologies which is a mapping-based MNC. While working there for about a year, I realized that I have the potential to achieve more things in life and climb the corporate ladder. Hence, I decided to search for a college offering an MBA in IT (or related domain) which would be in sync with my graduation background.
During this search, I came across this PGDM e-Business course offered by Prin L N Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research. After some analysis and receiving positive feedback, I knew this course suits my interests and career goals of working in an IT or E-Commerce company. And considering the importance of the current E-Commerce age, it was imperative to enroll myself in a course which would not only equip me with the vital managerial skills but also enhance my overall profile.
Just like a typical serious MBA aspirant, to get into a reputed B-school, I appeared for several MBA entrance exams namely CAT, CMAT, SNAP, NMAT, and CET. Since my preference was pursuing full-time MBA from Mumbai itself, my emphasis was on scoring well in either CMAT or CET. I had joined T.I.M.E. coaching class for my exams preparation. After studying for about three-four months, I comfortably cleared both the CMAT and CET cutoffs of Welingkar’s PGDM program. As expected, I received a call for the GD-PI rounds in April. With diligent preparation, I performed well in the interview rounds and was extremely glad to get “Selected” in the first list itself. I did not try for any other college since I firmly believed to take admission in an esteemed B-school like Welingkar only.
The daily schedule designed by Welingkar is such that we students are always pre-occupied with various productive stuff, be it the assignments, case studies, presentations, class tests, committee meetings, seminars, guest lectures, etc. While attending the interactive lectures, not only do I get to know the various perspectives of my classmates (belonging to the various academic backgrounds) but also the relevant examples shared by our erudite professors. It goes a long way in broadening my horizon as well as enhancing my ability to think from a holistic point of view.
Though all the lectures always have something new to gain from, lectures on marketing interest me the most. There are eminent guest speaker sessions held on a regular basis which enrich us with a lot of valuable knowledge about the various topics pertaining to the business environment. I had worked as the Secretary of the Green Committee for the year 2018-19. In my free time, I indulge in playing carom and table-tennis or spending some time in the library. This course, so far, has significantly honed my communication and business-related skills, and I am eagerly looking forward to acquiring as much knowledge and value-adding experience as possible.
