XLRI Group Discussion (GD) topics

XLRI Jamshedpur is one of the top MBA colleges in India for Business Management, Human Resource Management and General Management. Every year lakhs of candidates apply for admission to XLRI and find it tough to make it through not only because the number of applicants is large, but also because the XLRI GD/PI round is a tough nut to crack.

XLRI Jamshedpur admission process includes XAT exam, Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). Earlier, there used to be Group Discussion too. Candidates aspiring to pursue MBA from XLRI must note that it is not easy to crack the PI round of XLRI admission as the topics range from economy, politics, philosophy to society and lifestyle. XAT 2025 result has been declared and admission to PGDM BM and PGDM HRM courses will begin anytime soon with release of PI shortlist. Candidates who have cleared the XAT 2025 exam and meet the XAT 2025 cut off are eligible for the WAT-PI round. They will be invited for the WAT-PI round in February 2025. What is XAT Essay Writing

The Essay Wiriting test is coducted to assess candidate's knowledge and awareness of the given topic and whether they can presen ttheir opinion on the same in a cohesive manner. This round is essentially a test of how well can a candidate use their communication skills in presenting an argument to convince the stake holders. Candidates are given 20 minutes to write a 200-250 word essay on the given topic in this round of XLRI selection process. 

Q:   Does XLRI Jamshedpur offer Executive PGDM?
A:

XLRI offers a full-time EPGDM (General) programme for experienced executives. The duration of this course is one year and three months. XLRI Jamshedpur Ex-PGDM admission is based on candidates' performance in XAT/ GMAT entrance exams, followed by a PI round. Approved by AICTE, this course incorporates three months of field-based training in a functional area. 

Q:   Does XLRI offer an online MBA?
A:

Yes, XLRI Jamshedpur offers online MBA/ PGDM courses for three-years at the PG level via its XLRI Online Learning (XOL)  platform. XLRI online courses include a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM), Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Finance (PGDF) courses. All these courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Candidates seeking admission must visit the official website of the institute to apply online before its last date.

Q:   What is the Ex-FPM course of XLRI?
A:

Apart from a full-time residential FPM course, XLRI also offers an Executive Fellow Programme in Management (Ex-FPM), a non-residential doctoral course. The course duration of both FPM and Ex-FPM is four years. XLRI admission to both these courses is based on valid XAT/UGC-JRF/NET/GMAT/GRE/GATE scores.

What is XLRI GD Round?

The GD round of XLRI Jamshedpur is conducted in batches. About 8-10 students are grouped in batches and they are given a topic to discuss. The adjudicators note each candidate’s line of argument, validity of points made, behavior and tone. The time duration of GD is between 20-30 minutes in which every candidates has to make their point. The WAT topics are usually same as that of GD, which makes it easy for candidates to gain points.

Context-Based Group Discussions

Context Introduction: The participants will be given 3 minutes to read the provided excerpt. Candidates will have to formulate their viewpoints based on the provided context.

Discussion Phase: This is the main segment of 15 minutes. Here, participants will have to discuss their viewpoints and collectively exploring the nuances of the given context.

Takeaway Reflection: In the final 5 minutes of the session, each participant will have to share their key takeaway from the discussion.
