XLRI Jamshedpur XAT cut off 2027
XLRI, Jamshedpur admission process 2027 includes PI and Essay Writing. For the batch of 2027, the institute will select candidates for the admission round on the basis of XLRI Jamshedpur XAT cut offs, academic record and work experience (not mandatory). As part of XLRI shortlist process, all shortlisted candidates through Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) and GMAT have to appear for the interview round.
XLRI application process for MBA programmes has already started via XAT registration 2027. Those who wish to pursue MBA from the institute must apply for XAT and mention their prefered campus in the form. XAT exam 2027 will be held on January 3, 2027 and the last date to apply is December 6, 2026. Candidates need to select XLRI Jamshedpur or Noida campus in the XAT registration form to be eligible for admission. There will be no separate form for XLRI.

XLRI Selection Criteria 2027
XLRI Jamshedpur will conduct Essay Writing and PI round in about 10 cities across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata. For 2027 batch admission will be conducted from mid-February to March 2027 as per the slot and city selected by candidates. Selection of candidates will be based on XAT cut off. Candidate's XAT score will be evaluated against the official XLRI cut offs and academic history. Those having work experience will get extra points.
XAT 2026 cut off for BM programme for male candidates was 94 percentile and for female candidates was 88 percentile. For the HRM programme, the XAT cut off for male candidates was 92 percentile and for female candidates, it was 87 percentile. XAT cut off for XLRI Jamshedpur admission 2027 is expected to remain in the same range.
Essay Writing
In Essay Writing round, candidates will be given topics to write a short essay. In this round, the candidates will be judged on the basis of their communication ability and clarity of thoughts. Candidates must prepare Essay Writing (structured and concise and read a lot about current, business and social affairs in the country and around the world. XAT essay writing topic can be from any field.

Personal Interview
This round was a more personalized interaction between the selectors and the candidates. The most common questions asked in this round are: ‘Tell us about yourself’, ‘why MBA’, ‘why XLRI’, etc. In this round, the candidates are judged on their communication ability, convincing ability, problem solving ability and ability to handle pressure.

Selection of candidates for the Personal Interview and Group Discussion round of XLRI admission is done on the basis of these category wise cut offs.
Yes, candidates with less than 50 per cent in aggregate in graduation are eligible for admission to PGDM courses in XLRI. Candidates need to have minimum passing marks in Graduation. They must have however, completed their graduation from a recognised university only. Candidates planning to seek admission to an MBA college other than XLRI must check its eligibility criteria as the minimum score requirement of AICTE approved colleges is 50 percent (45 percent for Reserved categories). But having 50 per cent and above score is not a guarantee for getting selected for admission. You will need to clear the admission round which is based on XAT cut off percentile. If you do not meet the XAT cut off percentile you will not be selected for XAT personal interview round, which is the main parameter for MBA admission in XLRI.
Sectional cut off for XAT refers to the minimum percentile fixed for each section of the exam that candidates have to meet. For example, if the Quantitative Aptitude cut off is 85 percentile for XAT, students should score 85 percentile or more in the section of XAT to become eligible for group discussion and personal interview. Required XAT score varies every year because the percentile depends on difficulty level of exam and candidate performance. In XAT 2026, overall cutoff for XLRI BM was 94 percentile for Engineering Male and Non-Engineering Male candidates.
