Overview

ICAI will soon release CA Foundation admit card for May 2026. The direct link to download hall ticket will be available at eservices portal of ICAI. Registered candidates will have to enter their SSP login details, including their unique ID and password to get admit card for CA Foundation exam. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has released CA Foundation 2026 exam dates. It will conduct ICAI CA Foundation exam May 2026 on 14, 16 18 and 20 May in offline mode. Read below to know more about the admit card for CA Foundation exam.

How to Download ICAI CA Foundation Admit Card 2026?

CA Foundation admit card 2026 is accessible online only. Given below is the process to download CA Foundation exam 2026 admit card for May session:

  • Go to ICAI's eservice portal: eservices
  • Click on the link indicating 'Foundation admit card'

  • Log in using login ID (registration number) and password

  • Go to CA Foundation admit card link

  • Download the admit card and take two printouts

How to Recover Password for Downloading CA Foundation Admit Card 2026?

Students must keep their login credentials safely or memorise it. However, in case any candidate forgets their password for ICAI login then they can recover it by: 

  • Clicking on 'forgot password?'
  • A new tab will open with options to recover password as under: 
  • Selecting any option given below to recover password: 
    • Option A: Recover password via Email - Candidates need to enter their registration number, mobile number/ email id or Security Question & Answer as under: 
    • Option B: Recover password using Registration Number, Date of Birth and Security Question & Answer 
    • Option C: Recover password using Registration Number, Bar code and PIN

If you’ve forgotten password for CA Foundation, you can use 'forgot password' option given on login page to create new one. 

Q:   Can I get CA Foundation admit card via post?
A: 

No, ICAI will not send physical admit card to any candidate for CA Foundation exam. Eligible candidates will have to download and take a print out of their admit card on their own.

Q:   Will there be advance reading time in CA Foundation exam?
A: 

There are four papers in CA Foundation exam. According to exam pattern, Paper 1 & 2 have subjective type questions, and Paper 3 & 4 have objective type questions. ICAI will only give 15 minutes advance reading time for Paper 1 and Paper 2. 

The question paper seal for Paper 3 and 4 will be opened at 2 PM, i.e., the exam commencement time only.

Q:   Is late entry permitted in CA Foundation exam?
A: 

Yes, candidates will get up to 15 minutes of late entry to CA Foundation Paper 1, 2, 3, and 4. However, students are advised to reach the exam centre early to avoid getting late.

Q:   What are the documents/items to carry at CA exam centre?
A: 

CA candidates need to carry two copies of CA admit card (A4 size paper/colour printout), one photo ID (original), blue or black ballpoint pen and calculator to the examination centre. Candidates can carry Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID card, passport or driving license as the mandatory document for identification. They are also required to carry passport size photos to affix on the CA admit card. Entry without these documents will not be allowed.

Digital copy of the admit card or photo ID will not be accepted as valid at the examination centres, thus candidates must take print outs of their admit card as soon as they download it.

Q:   Can I change my CA test centre after receiving the admit card?
A: 

No, there is no provision to change their exam centres after the CA admit card has been issued. The option to change test city is given only the form correction process which is held a day after the registrations close. the form correction window is opened for 3-4 days for making changes in the already submitted form. Afterwards, you cannot change the test city. You will have to take the test in the city mentioned on your admit card. Thus, it is important that you make careful selection of the test cities in the CA exam form. Always select your hometown or city of current residence as the first preference so that you are allotted a test centre in that city only.

Items to Carry with ICAI CA Admit Card on Exam Day

Along with the CA Foundation admit card and photo ID proof, candidates will be required to carry certain items on the exam day. Given below is the list of items to carry on the exam day.

CA Foundation Exam Day Instructions

Candidates appearing for ICAI CA Foundation exam for upcoming session must follow below guidelines:

  • Candidates are advised to reach the examination centre at least one hour before the exam time.
  • Students can write their answers in either Hindi or English, as selected in the application form.
  • There will be an advance reading time of 15 minutes for Paper 1 and Paper 2 from 1:45 pm to 2 pm.
  • No advance reading time is provided for Paper 3 and Paper 4.
  • Late entry to exam hall is permitted for upto 15 minutes for Paper 1, 2, 3 and 4.
  • No early exit is provided. Candidates can leave the centre only after the exam time concludes.
  • Candidates can use battery operated portable calculator. Using any other kind of calculator will be considered Unfair Means.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of ICAI CA Final exams?

The difficulty level of CA Final exams is the highest among all the as the course is vast and extensive. The CA Final exam includes papers such as Corporate & Economic Laws Part I: Corporate Law, Economic Laws, Strategic Cost Management and Performance Evaluation, Direct Tax Laws & International Taxation, Goods and Services Tax, Direct Tax Laws & International Taxation, etc. which are tough to crack. The pass percentage of CA Final exams is low as low as 25 per cent in a particular session and students need multiple attempts to clear this level. Even after completing the CA Foundation and CA Intermediate levels, candidates find it tough to clear the CA Final level.

Q:   Is there negative marking in CA Foundation exam?
A: 

There is no negative marking in Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the CA Foundation course as they are subjective papers. In Paper3 and Paper 4, which have objective type questions, there is negative marking of 1/4th mark for incorrect attempt. Total marks per paper is 100. Every question carries 1 mark. Thus, students must mark answers carefully in Paper 3 and 4, to avoid negative marking. They must not do guess work.

Q:   What is the difficulty level of CA Foundation syllabus?

The difficulty level of CA Foundation syllabus can be considered lower than CA Intermediate and CA Final but it is challenging as the syllabus is vast. Since it is the beginner's level course, it has topics that requires understanding of core concepts and principles. Given the extremely low pass percentage, CA Foundation is definitely not easy. It requires conceptual clarity of a number of topics related to business, accounting, taxation, laws, etc. and rigorous practice.

There are two types of questions asked in CA Foundation exam. Paper 1 and Paper 2 have subjective type questions. Paper 3 and Paper 4 have objective type questions.

There is negative marking of 0.25 for every incorrect answer in Paper 3 and Paper 4 only.
