Students who remain dissatisfied with their marks will be given a chance to appear for the examinations which will be conducted after the COVID-19 situation improves.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is working on two options for marking Class 12 students, according to media reports. The first option is to assess the students on the basis of their performances in final exams of Class 10, and 11 and in internal exams in Class 12. The second option is to give weightage to Class 10 board exam results, and internal assessments in Class 12.

In a high-level meeting chaired by PM Modi along with other ministers and officials, it was decided to cancel the CBSE 12th board exams. Modi instructed officials to ensure that the CBSE Class 12 results are prepared in accordance with β€˜well-defined criteria, in a fair and time-bound manner’.

Students who remain dissatisfied with their CBSE 12th marks, and want to appear in the exam, will be given a chance to improve their scores when the situation becomes conducive, informed a government statement after the meeting.

The CBSE will file its reply to the Supreme Court soon. The court is hearing two petitions with regards to Class 12 board exams.

The centre informed the Supreme Court that the government will take a final decision by June 3 on whether to conduct Class 12 board exams amidst the COVID19 pandemic.

"Give us time till Thursday and the Government will come with a final decision,” said Attorney General K Venugopal to a special bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari.

CBSE 12th evaluation criteria making to take at least two weeks

 Soon after the cancellation of CBSE 12th exams 2021, the PM asked the board to come out with 'well-defined objective criteria' in a time-bound manner, CBSE officials have informed that structuring the criteria for evaluation of Class 12 students will take at least two weeks.

Anurag Tripathi, Secretary, CBSE informed, "We are in the process of structuring the criteria for Class 12 evaluation. We will put it in the public domain once it is completed. The decision is yet to be made."
