Live! CBSE 12th Result 2021 to be out by July 31; check assessment criteria here

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has produced the CBSE Class 12 result criterion finalized by the 12-member committee in the Supreme Court today. The Court has accepted the criteria. For calculating CBSE 12th marks 2021, the Class 12 pre-board score, Class 10 and 11 final marks will be considered in a 40:30:30 ratio respectively.

The Court has also finalised the result dates for CBSE and ISC today. The CBSE 12th result and ISC result will be announced by July 31, confirmed the Board, before the Delhi University admissions begin.

Apart from the result criterion, the Court also discussed the state board exams and their assessments. While there has been a demand for a uniform mode of assessment and choosing internal assessments for all, some state boards are in the favour of holding exams. SC heard the demand for uniformity across boards. Read live updates below:

Live Updates: CBSE 12th Result Criteria announced

12:25 pm: ISC 12th Result 2021 expected by July 31 too.

12:18 pm: The CISCE has developed a 'formula' to compute the ISC 12th marks. It includes the following factors:

  • Marks in ICSE 10th board exams
  • Project, practical work in subjects
  • Best marks obtained in school exams in Classes 11 and 12
  • Best performance of the school itself in the last 6 years

For computing the ISC marks for 2021, the board will study schools' performance from 2015 till 2020.

12:08 pm: The Court has issued notices to the few states who have not cancelled Class 12th state board exams yet. 18 of 28 states have so far cancelled 12th Class exams.

12:03 pm: The CBSE 10th results will also be a factor in computing the Class 12 results as they account for 30 per cent of the weightage in the total Class 12 score. This is how the Class 10 scores will be factored in:

  • Students typically study five subjects in Class 10. The board will consider the scores in the three subjects in which they scored the highest.
  • The average of three subjects will be applied to all Class 12 subjects' theory component.
  • CBSE will provide the marks, or averages, for students who wrote the Class 10 CBSE exam
  • Since many students may have written the Class 10 exam of another board, schools will have to compute the averages based on the marksheets submitted by students

12:01 pm: The Supreme Court has directed CBSE and CISCE to incorporate two aspects - provision for dispute resolution panel in case students want correction of final results after they are declared and to specify a timeline for declaration of results and date before optional exams will be conducted.

11:54 am: Class 11 final exam scores in all subjects will account for 30% of the total weightage

11:52 am: The Supreme Court of India has directed CBSE and ICSE to upload the assessment scheme on their websites

11:50 am: The Supreme Court has 'in principle' accepted the CBSE Class 12 assessment criteria

11:40 am: The 12-member committee formed by CBSE recommended a 30:30:40 formula. According to it, 30 per cent weightage will be given to Class 10 and Class 11 final results respectively, and 40 per cent to Class 12 pre-board exams. Practicals will be for 100 marks and the students will be marked based on the marks submitted by the schools.

11: 30 am: CBSE 12th Result 2021 to be out by July 31

11:00 am: CBSE submits Class 12 assessments plan in Supreme Court, to factor Class 10, 11 performance

10:00 am: The Board will submit the assessment criteria to evaluate students and calculate Class 12 result 2021.

Over 14 lakh students who were to appear for their class 12 board exams held by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will now be assessed by a special formula. CBSE’s assessment criterion is expected to be followed by other state boards, too, like in class 10. The criterion is expected to give a weightage of 40 per cent to class 12 pre-board exams while both class 10 and class 11 are likely to have 30 percent weightage in the final assessment.
