Report has highlighted lack of concept understanding and practical application in science, raising concerns about students’ readiness for STEM fields.

PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 report by Ministry of Education has stated important learning deficits among students. Survey conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training in December 2024 shows large gaps in foundational skills, suggesting immediate measures to reform education system.

PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development) evaluated students in class 3, 6, and 9 from government and private schools. Major findings include:

Struggles in Mathematics, Language and Science

Students displayed weaknesses in basic arithmetic, problem-solving, and logical reasoning, hindering their ability to tackle complex concepts.

Language Proficiency Gaps - Assessments revealed poor reading comprehension and writing skills, with many students unable to construct coherent sentences or understand texts.

Lack of concept clarity as well as practical application in science was visible, raising concerns about students’ readiness for STEM courses.

Regional and Socio-Economic Disparities

Report also highlighted unequal learning outcomes across different regions and economic groups, highlighting need for inclusive education policies. These findings call for urgent curriculum reforms, enhanced teacher training, and technology driven solutions to address it.

Educartion Ministry plans to use this report to start remedial programs and align with National Education Policy’s focus on foundational literacy and numeracy.
