JEE Main 2023 Session 2 April 8 Live Updates: Shift 2 and Shift 1 Question Paper (OUT), Answer Key, Analysis

The merit list / scores / result of JEE (Main) – 2023 may be utilized by other Entities of Central/State Governments with their eligibility criteria/norms/applicable regulations/guidelines/rules. For the academic year 2023-24, admissions under MEA (Welfare) quota seats shall be based on the Joint Entrance Examination (Main). 

• The All India Rank shall be compiled and declared after conduct of Session 2 of JEE (Main) - 2023 Examination.
• No Score/Rank Card will be dispatched to the candidates and the candidates are advised to download their Score/Rank Cards from the JEE (Main) website: www.nta.ac.in/, https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/ only.
• There shall be no provision for re-valuation/re-checking of the Score. No correspondence in this regard shall be entertained.
• Only the All India Rank (AIR) is used for admissions through Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) /Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) to NITs/ IIITs/ CFTIs/ SFIs/ Others
• All participating Institutions that do not use the Centralized Seat Allocation Process will prepare their own ranking based on the performance in JEE (Main) - 2023 and other criteria as decided by them.
• The National Testing Agency (NTA) is an examination conducting body and not an admission giving authority. Therefore, NTA does not collect the information regarding the total number of seats available in the institutions, or the eligibility and reservation criteria followed by the institutions. 

A copy of the Final Scorecard of JEE (Main) – 2023 will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the candidates. 

The NTA will display the recorded responses and Question Papers attempted by the candidates on the NTA website https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/ prior to the declaration of the result/NTA Score. The recorded responses are likely to be displayed for two to three days. 

The NTA will display the Provisional Answer Key of the questions on the NTA website: https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/, with a Public Notice, issued to this effect on the said website, to provide an opportunity to the candidates to challenge the Provisional Answer Keys with a nonrefundable online payment of ₹ 200/- per question challenged as processing charges. The provisional Answer Keys are likely to be displayed for two to three days. 

The result of JEE (Main) - 2023 of the candidate(s) who indulge in Unfair means Practices will be cancelled and will not be declared. Similarly, the result of those candidates who appear from the Centre other than the one allotted to them or allow another candidate/person to write the examination on his behalf will be cancelled. No plea will be entertained in this regard.

NTA will release the JEE Main 2023 session 2 statistics along with the declaration of the results. For JEE Main 2023 session 1, a total of 8.6 lakh candidates registered for the exam out of which 8.22 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. JEE Main 2023 session 1 attendance was 95.79%.

Tomorrow NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2023 April 10 exam. Applicants appearing in the exam have carry their JEE Mains admit card 2023 along with one valid photo ID proof. Candidates will be allowed to carry certain items inside the exam hall. The items restricted inside the examination centre are Instruments, Geometry or Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables and Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Earphone/ Microphone/ Pager, Calculator, DocuPen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder, Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/ devices in the Examination Hall/Room.

• Personal transparent water bottle.
• Sugar tablets or fruits if the candidate is diabetic.

Candidates can download JEE Main admit card 2023 by using the following steps

• Visit the JEE Main official website - jeemain.nta.nic.in
• Click on JEE Main 2023 admit card download link
• Login using application number and date of birth
• Admit card will be displayed on the screen
• Download and take its printout

This year NTA is releasing the JEE Main admit card 2023 session 2 separately for all exam dates. Currently, JEE Main 2023 admit card is available only for April 10 exam. JEE Mains session 2 admit card 2023 for April 11, 12, 13 and 15 will be available soon.

• General category candidates belonging to Economically Weaker Section (GEN- EWS) have 10 per cent of seats in every course.
• Other Backward Classes candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL) have 27 per cent of seats in every course.
• OBC candidates present in the State list but not covered in the central list of OBCs and OBC candidates belonging to creamy layer are NOT eligible to claim the reservation.
• Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates have 15 per cent of seats in every course.
• Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates have 7.5 percent of seats in every course. 

NTA is conducting JEE Main 2023 exam in 13 languages. Applicants have to select the JEE Main 2023 exam language at the time of filling the application form. NTA will not allow candidates to change the language of exam after the conclusion of the registration process.

NTA has provided JEE Main 2023 login facility for successfully registered candidates. Applicants appearing in the exam can use JEE Main login to download admit card, form correction, checking results and others. JEE Main 2023 login credentials are application number and password/date of birth.

Candidates can use the formula as prescribed by NTA to calculate the percentile in JEE Main. Using JEE Main 2023 percentile calculator helps candidates to calculate their expected JEE Main 2023 percentile using the raw score. For more details, candidates can refer to the formula below. 

• Students were not allowed to carry anything inside examination hall except a transparent ballpoint Pen, Admit Card & Aadhar Card. All guidelines as released by NTA earlier were followed for safety of the exam takers.
• Every student was made to go through a sanitizing station where they had to sanitize themselves through a foot press lever.
• Personal masks were not allowed. Every student was given a fresh surgical mask at entry.
• Metal detectors were used at the entry gate and no bags or wrist watches were allowed inside.
• Students reported that entry started as soon as they were screened at the entry point.
• Time Clock on computer screen was provided inside the examination hall.
• Immediate reaction from students after the exam
• There were total 90* questions and Total marks of JEE Main Paper-1 was 300. (* 5 out of 10 questions were to be attempted from Numerical Based section in each subject).
• Students were given plain papers for rough work.
• There was tight invigilation as per students.
• Proper social distancing was followed at the exam centre.

NTA conducts JEE Main 2023 exam for a duration of 3 hours. However, PwD candidates will get 4 hours to complete the exam. JEE Main paper 2 will be conducted for 3 hours 30 minutes. Applicants appearing in the exam are advised to report at the exam centre as per the slot mentioned in the JEE admit card.

The question papers of JEE Main 2023 are released on the basis of memory-based responses from candidates. There will be negative markings for numerical value type questions. However, if any anomaly or discrepancy is found after the process of challenges of the key verification, it shall be addressed in the following manner:
i. Correct Answer: Four marks ( 4)
ii. Incorrect Answer: Minus one mark (-1)
iii. Unanswered/Marked for Review: No mark (0).
iv. If a question is found to be incorrect or the Question is dropped then Four marks ( 4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.
v. Candidates are advised to do the calculations with the constants given (if any) in the questions. The answer should be rounded off to the nearest integer.

• Mathematics – Moderately Tough Level. Mixed Concept questions were asked. Questions asked from Straight Lines, Parabola, Circles, Limits, Continuity & Differentiability, Differential Equations, Area, Matrices, Binomial Theorem, Probability, Statistics, Determinants, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Mathematical Reasoning, Complex Numbers, Progression Series. Both MCQs and Numerical Based questions required lengthy calculations. This section was Lengthy and Tricky as per few students.some students also reported this as Tough.
• Physics – Easy level. Weightage given to chapters of Kinematics, Circular Motion, Rotational Motion, Laws of Motion, Rotational Motion, SHM, Gravitation, Heat & Thermodynamics, Wave Optics, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, AC Circuits, Modern Physics, Error Analysis, Semi-Conductors and Optics. Numerical based questions were reported as Easy. It was a Balanced Section.
• Chemistry- Moderate Level. Physical Chemistry was given less weightage as compared to Organic & Inorganic Chemistry. Questions asked from p-block elements, Qualitative Analysis, Titrations, Biomolecules, General Organic Chemistry, Aldehydes & Ketones, Amines, Chemical Equilibrium, Atomic Structure, Solutions, Chemical Kinetics. MCQs were tricky compared to Numerical Section. More weightage was given to class XI chapters.

In terms of order of Difficulty – Maths was Moderately Tough , Chemistry was Moderate Level, while Physics was Easy. Overall, this paper was Moderate to Tough level as per students.

Part-III- Mathematics had total 30* questions –

• Sec-I had 20 Multiple choice questions with Single correct answers.
• Sec-II had 10 Numerical based questions out which only 5 had to be attempted.
• Marking scheme for multiple choice questions was 4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response, 0 if not attempted.
• Marking scheme for numerical based questions was 4 for correct response, -1 for incorrect response and 0 in all other cases.
• Total marks of this section were 100.
  

Part-II- Chemistry had total 30* questions –

• Sec-I had 20 Multiple choice questions with Single correct answers.

• The mathematics section was Moderate and was similar to the January session. 
• The physics section was all formula based and was very scoring
• The chemistry section was moderate and most questions were asked from NCERT.

The overall paper was of moderate difficulty level as per the students. The majority of the candidates said that Physics was easy. On the other hand, Maths and Chemistry were moderate.

JEE Main 2023 April session is going on. Day 2 of this exam ended today. The shift 1 exam was moderate in overall difficulty. Shift 2 student reactions are awaited.

JEE Main 8 April 2023 exam is over now, and the student reaction for this shift is awaited. The shift 1 exam was moderate in overall difficulty level. The difficulty level-wise order according to a large section of students for today's shift 1 paper is: Mathematics > Physics > Chemistry
