IIM Amritsar 9th Convocation: The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar (IIM Amritsar) recently hosted its 9th Convocation Ceremony at Festyn Palais, Amritsar, marking a significant milestone in the institute’s journey of academic excellence and leadership development. The event saw degrees conferred upon over 380 graduates from various programs, including the flagship MBA, MBA in Business Analytics (MBA-BA), MBA in Human Resources (MBA-HR), Executive MBA (EMBA), and the first-ever batch of the MSc in Data Science and Management (MSDSM)—a joint initiative with IIT Ropar.
Dignitaries Grace the Occasion
The ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including Dr Ranjit Rath, Chairman & Managing Director, Oil India Limited, as the Chief Guest; Sanjay Gupta, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Amritsar; and Professor Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar. The event was also attended by Professor Samir K Srivastava, Director, IIM Amritsar, along with board members, faculty, proud families, alumni, and distinguished guests.
Message of Growth, Collaboration, and Excellence
Prof Samir K Srivastava delivered an inspiring address, congratulating the graduating batch on their achievements and resilience. He highlighted the launch of the MSDSM program as a key step towards interdisciplinary and industry-aligned education. Emphasizing IIM Amritsar’s robust growth, he noted the participation of over 150 companies in final placements, with more than 125 summer internships, and 100+ new recruiters across diverse sectors, including growing interest from global firms.
Prof Rajeev Ahuja lauded the IIM-IIT partnership and encouraged graduates to pursue excellence with integrity and purpose, underscoring the weight of legacy and responsibility associated with premier institutes like IIMs and IITs.
IIM Amritsar 9th Convocation: Academic Honors and Gold Medalists
During the ceremony, Prof Srivastava unveiled the Director’s Merit List, recognizing the top 10% of academic performers across all programs. The institute also awarded gold medals to its highest achievers, celebrating not only academic excellence but also leadership and all-round performance. These awards were presented by Chief Guest Dr Ranjit Rath, who urged the graduates to lead with boldness, empathy, and impact.
The highest package offered during MBA and MSc Data Science & Management placements 2025 was 25.86 LPA and 28 LPA.
Earlier, during 2024 placements, the highest domestic package stood at INR 28 LPA. Students also managed to grab international offers with the highest international package of INR 58.52 LPA. Earlier, the highest package offered in 2023 was INR 36.25 LPA. Looking at the past three years' stats (2022 to 2024), an improving trend was recorded in the highest package.
