Among several changes introduced in the NEET 2025 exam, implementation of APAAR ID was one of the major introductions. APAAR or the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID is a digital record of studentsβ academic details, results and other achievements. But since APAAR ID was not mandatory for candidates during the NEET 2025 registration and application process, majority of the candidates did not create this ID. A poll run of Shiksha.com has revealed that 45 per cent of the applicants do not have an APAAR ID.
APAAR is a 12-digit unique identification number which is a specialised identification system designed for Indian students, wherein they can digitally store their academic details such as mark sheets, scorecards, etc.
When NTA released the notification announcing the implementation of the APAAR ID in NEET 2025, it seemed to be a compulsory ID that candidates must possess. Later on, NTA announced that the APAAR ID is not mandatory for NEET 2025 application. This gave candidates the leeway to not create or not enter APAAR ID.
Shiksha Poll: Have You Entered APAAR ID in NEET 2025 Application Form?
The above-mentioned poll question had three options to select from, which are:
- Yes, entered APAAR ID
- Have not entered APAAR ID
- I do not have APAAR ID
The third option received the majority of responses, which is 45 per cent. On the other hand, 30 per cent of the respondents have entered the APAAR ID on the NEET 2025 application form. The rest of the candidates, accounting for around 25 per cent, have not entered their APAAR ID on the application form. Take a look at the screenshot below.
Significance of APAAR ID on NEET 2025 Application Form
If a candidate chose to enter their APAAR ID, the mandatory fields of past academic details of Class 10 and Class 12 were automatically filled on the NEET application form 2025. Hence, candidates did not need to enter the details manually, resulting in minimal mistakes on the form.
Incidentally, during the NEET 2025 application correction window, the APAAR ID field was not editable. For example, if a candidate did not opt for the APAAR ID while filling the form could not change the option and enter the APAAR ID, or change the APAAR ID during the NEET 2025 correction window,
The NEET 2025 application process was conducted from February 7 to March 7, 2025. The correction window was opened from March 9 to March 11, 2025. The exam will be conducted on May 4, 2025, in 566 cities across India and abroad.
The NEET result is declared on the official websites of NTA and NEET. The URLs where the result or the scorecard of NEET 2025 are available for download are as follows:
- neet.nta.nic.in
- nta.ac.in
The above-mentioned websites carry the official notice about the NEET result declaration, procedure and links to download the NEET 2025 scorecard.
NEET score card is valid for admission to the current academic session only. NEET 2025 result cannot be carried forward for admission to the 2026-27 academic session. Hence, in case a candidate fails to qualify for NEET 2025 or unable to take admission in that academic year, then they have to appear for NEET next year and seek admission. Beyond a year, the NEET scorecard will just be another document or a record to prove the appearance in NEET.
