Overview

NExT Syllabus 2026: The NExT exam syllabus is one of the most important pillar for the exam preparation. The candidates are suggested to prepare all the topics mentioned in the official information bulletin. The candidates should prepare with the syllabus, exam pattern and the previous year question papers are the key to the exam preparation. The National Medical Commission will release the NExT syllabus in the brochure only. The NExT exam dates will be released through a public notification by the Government of India because it was postponed by two or three years. 

The candidates should solve the previous year question paper to know the frequently asked topics in the exam. The candidates can check the syllabus for NExT to know the topics for preparation. The syllabus will include seven clinical subjects / disciplines. NExt exam was proposed as a computer based test for licensing and postgraduate entrance exam, replacing the NEET PG and FMGE.

The syllabus for NExt step 1 exam is provided below. Candidates can check the syllabus and plan their preparation accordingly.

NExT Step 2 Syllabus

NExT Step 2, a practical exam will evaluate candidates on parameters such as clinical diagnosis, patient examination and clinical decision making, practical and communication skills necessary for practice of modern system of medicine etc. Subjects included for NExT step 2 syllabus are as follows:

  • Medicine and allied subjects

  • Surgery and allied subjects

  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology

  • Paediatrics

  • Otorhinolaryngology

  • Ophthalmology

  • Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PMR)

NExT MBBS exam: Distribution of Subjects

According to guidelines released by NMC, there will be six papers for NExT Step exam. The exam will be held in two shifts. Candidates can check subjects in each paper with respective number of items and time allotted in the table given below:

NExT Exam Pattern

NExT exam pattern has not been released yet. As per the NExT draft released earlier, step 1 exam will be held in computer-based mode while step 2 NExT exam in offline mode. There will be 540 multiple choice questions in NExT MBBS Step 1 exam. Out of these, 65% will be based on problem solving and analytical skill, 25 % comprehension type and rest 10% will be recall based.

NEXT scholarship is offered on the basis of merit at NIMS College of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy. Minimum 60% is required in Class 10/ Class 12 for UG courses as applicable and 60% required in graduation for PG courses to avail NEXT scholarship.

Yes, just like other US universities, Georgia College and State University also allows Indian students to defer their admission to the next available intake

In the case of GCSU, it will be the Spring intake if the Fall intake at this university is missed

Generally, the University of Melbourne opens applications for the start-year (for February/March) intake in the months of May or June of the preceding year. 

For the mid-year admissions -

Noble College admissions can be completed offline/ online. The college selects students on a merit basis. Selecteds students get an offer letter and have to report at the college for verification of documents. Students can pay the admission fees to complete the process.
