NExT 2026 syllabus: National Medical Council (NMC) has deferred the NExT exam for two to three years. The notification regarding the NExT will be updated by NMC. After the release of the official notification, the authority will release the NExT exam syllabus online. The syllabus will be mentioned in the information brochure. Candidates can follow the syllabus for exam preparation. Based on the exam syllabus and paper pattern, candidates can plan their preparation. The authority will release the NExT exam date through public notification by the Government of India. The NExT exam was proposed to replace the NEET PG and FMGE exams. NExT Step 2 Syllabus
NExT Step 2, a practical exam will evaluate candidates on parameters such as clinical diagnosis, patient examination and clinical decision making, practical and communication skills necessary for practice of modern system of medicine etc. Subjects included for NExT step 2 syllabus are as follows:

NExT MBBS exam: Distribution of Subjects
According to guidelines released by NMC, there will be six papers for NExT Step exam. The exam will be held in two shifts. Candidates can check subjects in each paper with respective number of items and time allotted in the table given below:

NExT Exam Pattern
NExT exam pattern has not been released yet. As per the NExT draft released earlier, step 1 exam will be held in computer-based mode while step 2 NExT exam in offline mode. There will be 540 multiple choice questions in NExT MBBS Step 1 exam. Out of these, 65% will be based on problem solving and analytical skill, 25 % comprehension type and rest 10% will be recall based.
