Deputy Chief Minister who also holds the higher education portfolio said it was decided offline classes will continue with strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for COVID-19.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan has said that the regular offline classes for the college students will continue across the state and the semester exams will be held as per the time-table of the Universities. The announcement comes after he chaired a meeting to assess the COVID-19 situation in view of the recent spurt in fresh cases in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister who also holds the higher education portfolio said it was decided offline classes will continue with strict implementation of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for COVID-19.
"We discussed the possible impact of the second wave of COVID-19 on the academic activities. The same would be communicated to Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa," he said in a statement, without elaborating.

Offline classes in colleges and universities across the state had resumed in November last year after being closed for more than six months due to a coronavirus outbreak and to contain the spread. The coronavirus cases in Karanataka are rising steadily with the daily infections crossing the 2,000 marks on Tuesday after a gap of over three months.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government has also launched an online examination preparation portal for those students who are preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET), Common Entrance Test (KCET). In 2020, the portal has focused on NEET and CET preparations, but from this year JEE has been included. 

NTA will conduct NEET 2021 exam on August 1, 2021. NTA will start inviting the NEET 2021 application shortly. KCET 2021 is scheduled to be conducted on July 07 for Biology and Mathematics, and on July 08 for Physics and Chemistry.
