Russia intends to attract more Indian students for engineering and medical programmes
Russian universities have initiated talks with universities and health care providers in India for possible tie-ups in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak. The likely associations can be on taking up joint research activities and exchange of faculty and students, among others.
Consul General of The Russian Federation in South India, Oleg N Avdeev, said that Russia will hold a virtual education fair on August 1, for creating awareness on medical and engineering programmes to attract more Indian students.
The Russian Centre of Science and Culture, in association with Study Abroad Educational Consultants, has begun talks with the medical colleges in India including Dr MGR Medical University for taking up joint research work, exchange of faculty and students, and clinical training of their students in India.
Some Russian universities have started admitting Indian students to various engineering and medical programs and while the travel restrictions are in place, the classes would be conducted online.
Study Abroad Educational Consultants Managing Director Ravichandran C said, "there are over 100 government medical universities in Russia, recognised by the National Medical Commissioner (formerly Medical Council of India)."
Oleg N Avdeev said in a release, " This year, the number of seats for Indian students in Russia is increased from 3,000 to 5,000.
