Yes, it is mandatory for candidates to give or appear for both UGC NET Paper 1 and 2 to qualify for the UGC NET exam. The candidates have to qualify for both papers separately. Candidates who will qualify for one paper will not be considered as qualified for the UGC NET exam.

Candidates should hold the Masters' degree or equivalent in Humanities, Social Science or Sciences with at least 55% marks and 50% for reserved categories from a recognized university will be eligible to give UGC NET 2026 exam.
